The Amazing Jessie

The Amazing Jessie Just a fun and somewhat educational page for disabled furry friends. Jessie Renee welcomes you to h Her story actually begins from a random event.

Jessie Renee came into my life 6/30/14 (was the first glimpse). Technically she did not officially become my dear beloved pet until 7/5/14!! On the late evening (10:47pm) of June 28th I had spotted a deceased cat in the road. I was torn to stop and move the poor sweetie off the road but did in fact turn around to do so. As I parked and started walking over to move the kitty I met an older gentleman who had decided to do the same thing. Of course I thanked him for being kind enough to stop as well to move the poor creature out of traffic and he proclaimed then that he "was a huge cat lover." He told me how in the apartment complex he lived in, that many feral and stray/abandoned kitties were roaming and along with himself, other neighbors had made a simple "safe" sanctuary for them. The bad part was all the people that cared were older, low/fixed income, so many of the cats were not spayed or neutered. He had expressed a concern about a momma and 3 kittens he had brought in and were caring for so I offered to help with getting them altered. We exchanged phone numbers and I got his address and the start of an end to so many unwanted kittens began. On the 30th I had made an appt thru the local humane society to get the momma and 3 kittens altered, went over to the apartments and lo and behold, I found that there were over 11 kittens and at least 8 adults needing altered and rehomed!! Amongst the 11 there was Jessie. She was a skeletal creature with horrible eyes and stumbling to get to the food bowl. I had to work all week but after assessing the situation promised to be back with what meds would be needed and would bring by on that friday (July 4th). I truly believed Jessie would have been deceased by the time I had gotten back with much needed meds but by the grace of God she was even more skeletal (eyes starting to protrude) but eating at the food bowl. I knew I could not let anymore time pass by, this little girl did have a WILL to live and I (regardless of finances, etc) would have to step up and do what I could for her. July 5th was her first vet visit, she was a meager .75 ounces. We visited the vet every week (sometimes twice weekly). Antibiotics were not helping with her eyes. As she did gain weight her eyes worsened. July 18th (early morning) her left eye ruptured, she now weighed 1.6 lbs. Straight to the vet we went and I knew that we could not wait any longer the inevitable was to surgically remove both eyes. I cried and prayed that she would survive the surgery and to present day this little girl has shown me thru her non existing eyes, how amazing the world can be. So in hopes of Jessie's story, we would like to try and present a better, more optimistic perspective to the human race. Disabled does not make you less of an individual (be it pet or person) but makes you better than the rest for the obstacles and struggles only build and unbreakable soul and resistance to what life can throw at you!!! Jessie is fearless, fun and very much loved!! Please enjoy watching her grow and become the best gift ever gave to me!! Blessings to all!!
