Goodbye, May — you were wonderful!

May was full of special moments here at Brookdale Silver Lake! From getting creative with art projects to enjoying a delicious lunch out at Olive Garden, we made the most of every day. We celebrated Mother’s Day with a lovely tea party and an array of sweet treats, soaked up the sunshine in our beautiful courtyard, and even played a part in rescuing a mama duck and her ducklings — a memory we’ll cherish!

There’s never a dull moment here, and the fun just keeps on going. Here’s to more joy, laughter, and special memories in the months ahead!

Love on a Leash is an incredible organization to be part of! Dogs have an amazing way of connecting with people and offering emotional support, and our therapy dog Phoebe is a perfect example. Phoebe was born to bring joy! She absolutely loves her work with Love on a Leash, when she’s not busy chasing her tail or playing ball, of course! She’s also a water-loving pup who enjoys swimming in the ocean, lakes, and streams. You can meet Phoebe and our other wonderful therapy dogs every Sunday at 11:00 AM during our weekly visits. Come experience the love.

Another spring brings another delightful surprise at Brookdale Silver Lake! A mama duck decided our courtyard was the perfect nesting spot—unfortunately, there was no food or water nearby for her little ones. Once her 11 fluffy ducklings hatched, we gently placed them in a container and safely transported them to the other side of the building, where mom was waiting, and they could find everything they needed. It was a heartwarming rescue—and those baby ducks were absolutely quacking adorable!

We were thrilled to be invited to Courageous Connections for a wonderful horse therapy experience. Our residents had the chance to learn all about horse care—how these amazing animals interact with people, and how to stay safe while spending time with them. From brushing and petting to simply being in the presence of these peaceful and loving creatures, it was a truly heartwarming and therapeutic experience for everyone. A big thank you to Courageous Connections for sharing your beautiful horses and kindness with us!
