HAPPY THANKSGIVING from the FFD!!! Cooking fires are the leading cause of house fires in the U.S.. Please use caution when cooking, and if you are are celebrating with family & friends this weekend, please get a sober ride. We love you, but we don't want to see you. 🤣

On Friday, November 7th at approximately noon, the FFD was called to a grass fire in the 3000 block of T Ave in Fayette County. Crews were able to contain the fire and were on scene approximately one hour. Responding Units: 450-Chief, 452-EMS Division Chief, 459-Brush Truck, 457-Engine, 454-Tanker, Polaris Ranger.

On Thursday afternoon at approximately 5:00pm, the FFD was dispatched to a building fire in the 1000 block of Fairbank-Amish Blvd. Upon arrival crews discovered two buildings involved in fire with fire impinging on a home. Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire and prevent further spread. One building was destroyed and one suffered significant damage. The home has minor damage. Fairbank responding units were: 450-Chief, 451-Fire Div. Chief, 454-Tanker, 455-Ambulance, 456-Rescue, 457-Engine. Crews were assisted by the Hazleton, Oelwein and Jesup Fire Departments.

Happy Halloween from the ZOMBIE (Fairbank) Fire and EMS Association!! Before our standby duties for tonight’s payoff football game we participated in the Trunk or Treat in the school parking lot! We had a blast! Thanks Doug Martins for being an excellent trauma patient!
