🌿 Simple Remedy: Salt Steam 🌿

If your chest feels heavy, your sinuses are clogged, or you’re fighting off something trying to settle in, this is one of the oldest, simplest remedies you can use.

Salt steam helps:
✔ Loosen mucus in the lungs
✔ Open up sinuses
✔ Soothe irritated airways
✔ Support the body’s natural clearing process

How to do it:

1. Bring a pot of water to a gentle boil
2. Add 1–2 tablespoons of sea salt
3. Remove from heat
4. Lean over the pot (carefully, the steam can be intense), cover your head with a towel
5. Breathe slowly for 10–15 minutes

That’s it. No chemicals. No fuss. Just simple, effective care.

I’ve used this in our home when the airways feel tight or congestion starts creeping in, it’s one of those remedies that reminds you how powerful the basics really are.

“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24

March is that quiet space between winter and spring.
The days get longer, the chickens start talking again, and you can feel the earth waking under the snow.
It’s the season for simple things.
Warm broth on the stove.
Sourdough rising on the counter.
Garden plans at the kitchen table.
“To everything there is a season.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Right now our job is simple.
Nourish the body.
Prepare the home.
Trust the season God placed us in.
Stay rooted.

Friends, thank you for your patience during the quiet here over Christmas. I chose to step away from social media to keep that season set apart for family, worship, and honoring Christ. I’m grateful for each of you who stuck with me. Now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get back to the good work.

Remembering Pearl Harbor: 83 Years Later

Today, December 7, 2024, marks 83 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor. Over 2,400 lives were lost that day in 1941, forever changing our nation.

Let’s take a moment to honor the bravery of those who served and the sacrifices made. Their courage reminds us to value unity and strive for peace.

We remember, we honor, and we will never forget.

Sundays once meant long phone calls with Uncle Butch from his Michigan farm. He talked about raising children, tending the soil, and the humble roots that protected his home from day to day. Sage tea stood out because it always seemed to bring comfort when voices grew tired or throats felt raw. I carried those lessons into my own home and into this week’s blog post. You can welcome that same wisdom into your family with a simple cup of sage.

I took this photo in August of 2024 in Michigan, just found it today and thought I would share it with everyone. Such a great photo.

Did you know tonight isn’t just Halloween?
It’s All Hallows’ Eve, the Christian vigil before All Saints’ Day.

Long before the spooky stuff ever showed up, believers spent this night in prayer and candlelight, thanking God for the saints who ran the race before us. The Church established All Saints’ Day in the 700s, turning this time of year into a celebration of light over darkness and faith over fear.

It’s fun to dress up and enjoy the evening, just don’t forget the reason for these two days, to honor the faithful who came before us and to remember that Christ already conquered the grave. ✝️
