The Power of Cheering Each Other On
My husband, girls and I recently traveled to New York for the U.S. Open.
It was my first live tennis match, and I was completely dazzled—by the energy, the grit, the joy.
But what struck me most wasn’t the tennis itself—it was the community.
We watched Taylor Townsend play, and she pulled us right into her corner. Every cheer, every clap, every “You got this!” lifted her higher. 𝗔𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁, 𝗜 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴, “I 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂, 𝗧𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗼𝗿!”—not because I knew her personally, but because I was inspired by her determination.
That’s the power of community.
It energizes us.
It reminds us we’re not alone.
It carries us forward in ways we can’t always do by ourselves.
Why does “home field advantage” matter? Because being cheered on changes us—chemically and emotionally. Support releases dopamine, oxytocin, and serotonin. It gives us belonging and strength.
Helen Keller said it best:
“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”
👉 My invitation to you: cheer someone on today. Celebrate a colleague. Encourage a friend. Support your team.
And if you’re looking for a community that celebrates you, join me at one of my upcoming gatherings:
