“Do this, not that” is WAY easier said than done when you’re navigating fertility decisions.
If you’re in the middle of testing, considering IVF, or exploring donor eggs, it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed. There are so many unknowns, and knowing which questions to ask can make all the difference.
Instead of spiraling into Google searches (don't do it!) and worst-case scenarios (stop that!), start with us. You don’t have to figure this out alone, and you certainly shouldn't have to panic your way through any of it.
We put together a guide to help you walk into every conversation feeling informed, prepared, and supported.
Choosing a donor isn’t just about medical criteria: it’s about connection.
It's a given that every Fairfax Egg Bank donor is rigorously screened for pristine health and genetics.
But they’re also genuinely incredible people.
We're talking about artists. Athletes. Book lovers. Future doctors. Deep thinkers. Big dreamers.
When new donors are released, intended parents often tell us they spend quality time diving deeper than medical history, reading profiles' personal essays and stories, to enjoy little glimpses into who these unique women are.
It’s not just a search. It’s a moment where things start to feel real, and our donor alerts email list gives you first access to these new profiles the moment they become available so you don’t miss someone who might feel like the one.
Join the list and experience it for yourself.

Infertility doesn’t always follow a timeline. For many, it shows up earlier than expected.
If you’re younger and navigating this, the frustration is real.
“Isn’t this something that’s supposed to happen later?”
But clinically, infertility is defined the same way regardless of age: the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists notes that if pregnancy hasn’t occurred after 12 months of regular, unprotected in*******se (or 6 months for those 35+), it warrants evaluation. And while age impacts egg quality over time, infertility is not exclusive to older patients. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that about 1 in 6 women overall experience infertility or difficulty conceiving, and many of them are under 30.
In other words, being young doesn’t make you immune. And struggling early doesn’t make your experience any less valid.
For those supporting someone through this, know that infertility is not always visible, and it doesn’t always align with assumptions about age, lifestyle, or timing.

Genetic testing in egg donation is more nuanced than many realize.
We’re seeing more Intended Parents come into this process with questions about genetic testing, and understandably so.
But one thing remains clear:
Not all genetic screening is created equal, and not all results are easy to interpret.
In egg donation, genetic testing typically includes:
+ Carrier screening for inherited conditions
+ Family medical history review
+ In some cases, expanded panels that assess hundreds of conditions
But the real clinical challenge isn’t just testing, it’s contextualizing results. At Fairfax Egg Bank, our approach is grounded in helping our Intended Parents navigate:
+ What it means to be a carrier (and what it doesn’t)
+ When additional genetic counseling is warranted
+ How to move forward with confidence over confusion
Our genetic and clinical teams work closely with providers to ensure that genetic information is not just delivered, but fully understood, because ultimately, the goal isn’t more data: it’s better-informed decisions at every step of the journey.

For many intended parents, choosing frozen donor eggs brings something priceless: control.
With frozen eggs, there’s no waiting on a donor cycle, no schedule uncertainties, and no travel logistics. You receive a set number of eggs, know exactly what you’re starting with, and can move forward as soon as you feel ready.
It’s one of the reasons families choose frozen donor eggs: clarity, flexibility, and a path that fits your timeline, not the other way around.
Your story is one of a kind, and the path to building your family should reflect that.
That’s why our standards are, too. We accept less than 1% of applicants into our donor program, with every donor undergoing rigorous medical, genetic, and psychological screening.
It’s a level of care designed to give you confidence at every step—because when it comes to your future family, details matter.
Choosing donor eggs isn’t just a medical decision, it’s a deeply personal one. 💙
It often comes with a mix of emotions, questions, and hopes for the future. Taking time to reflect on what matters most to you, process your feelings, and learn about the path ahead can help you move forward feeling more informed, confident, and supported in your decision.

This time of year can bring up a wide mix of emotions for intended parents:
💙Hopefulness for what’s ahead.
💙Reflection on how far you’ve come.
💙Longing for the family you’re building.
💙Grief or tenderness for the chapters that didn’t unfold the way you hoped.
💙Gratitude for the people walking beside you.
💙Uncertainty, anticipation, overwhelm, and the resilience that carries you through all of it.
If this season feels heavier or more complex than usual, you’re not alone. Many families navigating donor eggs share these same feelings, especially as plans, timelines, and decisions intersect with the holidays.
Wherever you are in your journey, we’re here to offer clarity, support, and guidance, so you can move forward at the pace that feels right for you.
You’re doing something incredibly meaningful. And you deserve care that meets you with compassion at every step.
