3 things your child’s preschool teacher won’t tell you—but I will! 🤫✨
As a former public school educator and founder of Read Play Love Center, I see the “behind the scenes” of school readiness every day. Here is the truth about what actually prepares your child for Kindergarten:
1️⃣ Fine motor play IS writing practice. 🎨 Before your child can hold a pencil to write their name, they need the hand strength developed by squeezing playdough, using tweezers in a sensory bin, or peeling stickers. At the center, our sensory tables are secretly “pre-writing” stations!
2️⃣ Reading the same book 100 times is a superpower. 📚 It might drive you crazy, but repetitive reading builds “phonological awareness.” When kids memorize the rhythm of a favorite story like The Wildest Thing, they are actually learning how language is structured.
3️⃣ “Soft” skills are the hardest to teach. 🤝 Being “school ready” has less to do with flashcards and more to do with self-regulation and social play. That’s why we prioritize Open Play after our classes—it’s where the real work of sharing, problem-solving, and transition-management happens!
We’re here to help you navigate these foundations in a way that feels like play, not a chore. 🤍
