Michael Ernest Taylor

Michael Ernest Taylor, known affectionately as "Mike," passed away on May 11, 2026, in Daphne, Alabama, leaving behind a legacy rich with humor, talent, and unwavering love. Born on January 9, 1954, in McComb, Mississippi, Mike's life was a testament to the beauty found in hard work, creativity, and community.

For much of his career, Mike was a Stevedore Supervisor, steadfastly overseeing operations in bustling shipyards. To those who worked alongside him, he was known as a fair but firm boss—one who balanced respect and authority with an approachable spirit. Yet, those who truly knew Mike recognized that beyond the workday, he was the heart and soul of every gathering: the life of the party, the endless source of laughter, the storyteller whose jokes and sarcasm never failed to brighten the darkest days.

Mike’s love of crafting was as legendary as his wit. Wood-working was his sanctuary and his art, where he poured his meticulous care into creating stunning American flags, intricate bird houses, charcuterie boards, cutting boards, swings, co****le boards, and even rocking horses. Each piece was a labor of love that bore his distinctive touch, reflecting his deep appreciation for beauty and tradition. Yet it was in the kitchen that Mike’s genius found one of its purest expressions. He could cook anything and everything, bringing homemade delights wherever he went. Family and friends will forever cherish his dinner rolls that melted in the mouth, breakfast casseroles that greeted many a morning with warmth, and cinnamon rolls whose sweet aroma was a herald of joy. Sharing food, much like sharing laughter, was how Mike expressed love.

A particular memory that captures his infectious humor was the night at the Comedy Barn when Mike attempted to call his son Nate on stage—and instead found himself unexpectedly summoned. The hilarity that ensued was a perfect snapshot of who he was: playful, ever-surprising, and always ready to embrace the moment with a grin.

Michael leaves behind a devoted circle of family who carried his spirit forward in countless ways. His beloved wife, Priscilla Taylor, stood steadfastly by his side, a true partner through life’s highs and lows. Their sons, David and Nathan, along with their wives Christie and Sarah, continue to draw strength from their father’s example and love. Grand-daughters Emilee, Lauren, Addison, Makayla, and Natalee, and grandson Christian, each carry a piece of Mike’s joyful essence—whether in a smile, a story, or a favorite recipe passed down through generations.

He was also cherished by his mother-in-law, Betty Starling; his nephew Brent Stanga; niece Wendy Prymek; and nephew Grant Lambert—family ties that wove a rich tapestry of kinship and affection.

Mike’s journey was marked by poignant loss as well. He is preceded in death by his son Christopher Taylor, his mother Lillian Taylor, his father Ernest Taylor, father-in-law Gerald Starling, sisters Gwen Lambert and her husband Lou Lambert, and Pauline Stanga, and nephew Wade Stanga. Their memories live on, part of the foundation that shaped his remarkable life.

As we say farewell to Michael Ernest Taylor, it is impossible not to feel the echoes of his laughter, the warmth of his cooking, and the beauty of the crafts he lovingly created. His was a life so richly lived—with humor that lightened burdens, hands that built more than wood, and a heart that held a family tight. He reminds us all to find joy in the everyday, to be generous in spirit, and to know that sometimes, the best stories are told around a table heaped with good food and the comforting glow of shared history.

Michael Ernest Taylor will be deeply missed but never forgotten, his essence forever etched in the lives he touched, the artistry he left behind, and the laughter that will carry on long after the last roll is baked and the final story told.

Judy Janelle McGill

Judy Janelle McGill, née Campbell, peacefully went to her Eternal Home on April 28, 2026, in Fairhope, Alabama. Born on July 11, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama, Judy’s life was a testament to love, devotion, and unyielding faith. She was the beloved daughter of Perry and Nell Campbell. Due to her parents' separation, she was lovingly raised by her father and her paternal grandmother, Texarkana Campbell, who helped shape the woman Judy would become.

Judy’s journey began with a strong educational foundation when she graduated from Semmes High School in 1960. She later earned certification as a secretary, a skill that would lead her to a pivotal moment in her life. In March of 1965, while working as a legal secretary at the Mobile Courthouse, Parole, and Probation office, she experienced a serendipitous Mardi Gras blind date with Phil McGill—a meeting that blossomed into a deep and abiding love during that Carnival season. Their bond culminated in marriage on October 25, 1969, at Gulf Hills Baptist Church, marking the foundation of a cherished family.

Judy was a woman who poured herself into her family with a devotion that defied measure. As a busy stay-at-home mother of three, she tirelessly juggled the demands of raising her children, managing her household, volunteering at both church and school, and ensuring she was present at every important event in her family’s lives. Her sacrifices were made quietly but deeply felt by all who knew her.

Beyond her family commitments, Judy had a rich tapestry of interests and talents. She nurtured lush vegetable and herb gardens, cultivated vibrant flower beds, hand-sewed her daughters' dance and pageant dresses with care, expressed herself through acrylic painting, shared her love for music at the piano, and embraced the simple joy of dancing as if no one were watching. These pursuits reflected the fullness of her spirit—a life lived fully and beautifully.

Judy’s character was marked by integrity and a firm moral compass, guided by the Biblical principles found in the Ten Commandments and the Scriptures. Even in the face of adversity, her faith remained steadfast, illuminating the way she treated others with fairness and honesty.

Her beloved husband, Phil Gray McGill, preceded her in death, leaving behind cherished memories of a lifelong partnership.

Judy’s legacy continues through her surviving family: her son Brian Gray McGill; her daughters Janna Roule (married to Christian Roule) and Cherie Melton (married to Billy R. Melton, Jr.); and her treasured grandchildren Aurora Grey Campbell and Cole Fletcher Campbell. They carry forward her spirit of love, kindness, and resilience.

A graveside service celebrating Judy’s life will be held on May 1, 2026, at Jubilee Memorial Gardens in Daphne, Alabama, from 4:30 PM to 5:15 PM.

Judy Janelle McGill’s life was a beautiful composition of love, faith, and selfless dedication. She graced this world with her warmth and unwavering devotion to family, leaving behind an indelible mark that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those she loved.
