Lost and Found Pets of Fairview, TN

Lost and Found Pets of Fairview, TN This page is for Lost and Found Pets of Fairview, TN (and neighboring areas). Have you lost or found a pet in the Fairview, TN (or neighboring) area(s)? TN.

This page was created to be a central location to quickly help reunite missing pets and their families in the Fairview, TN area. How do you post about a lost/found animal? Include a brief description, location (neighborhood/cross streets only) and the date the animal was lost/found. Please include a photo of the animal. Post directly to the page, keep in mind Facebook has a delay so you will not always see your post right away. If you have a found animal please keep some pertinent details about the animal out of the picture and private. LEGAL PROOF of OWNERSHIP is required (and VITAL) from anyone claiming an animal. This insures that the pet is reunited with it's rightful owner(s). BE SURE that WCAC is CONTACTED and FOLLOW their MANDATORY instructions. Please follow up on your posts so that we will know to remove the posting when a pet has been reunited. This way we can keep the wall cleared for pets that still need to find their way back home. What do you do when you find/lose a pet?

1. Contact Williamson County Animal Control: 615-790-5590 ASAP. There are also links included in the Note Section of this page for their lost/found stray report forms that you can fill out online (and you can do it after hours if needed).

***NOTIFICATION TO WILLIAMSON COUNTY ANIMAL CENTER (or the animal control facility in the county found) is REQUIRED BY LAW in the great State of TN. ***

Animals are considered personal property in TN and WCAC is the LEGAL AUTHORITY in Williamson Co. It is ILLEGAL to keep, rehome, give away or sell ANY FOUND ANIMAL. Animal Control MUST be NOTIFIED and their instructions FOLLOWED. We also recommend notification to Animal Control and Humane Association facilities in ALL surrounding area counties. Animals can/do travel long distances in a short time and/or they can easily be displaced out of the area by human intervention.

2. Make a post here!

3. Contact local vets offices as soon as possible. Fairview Animal Clinic: 615-799-2118
White Oak Animal Clinic: 615-799-7981

4. If FOUND: Have the animal checked at both vets office for a microchip. One or the other may recognize the animal. If LOST: Be sure to notify the microchip company ASAP that the animal is lost so they can flag your account. Be sure to make sure your contact info is correct/up to date.

5 Make easy to read SIGNS and post in easy to read locations (like 4-way stops)! Not everyone has internet access or is on social media. This is a vital step that cannot be stressed enough. SIGNS get SIGHTINGS! Be sure to check with the local Codes Dept. to make sure your signs are in compliance with local requirements prior to placement.

7. Create a lost/found animal flyer at HelpingLostPets.com and/or Lostmydoggie.com. These are great for direct distribution but are NOT effective tools for the side of the road.

6. Tell everyone you see that walks (with or without an animal) in your subdivision. Also, tell your postal carrier, ups/fed ex carrier, the more people you have looking, the better! Hand out those flyers!!

7. SHARE this page/posts with others. The more people we can get involved on this page, to make it a central location for our lost/found animals, the sooner we can reunite them with their families. Also, please remember that it will take a finder and an owner time to implement these tips Please give them time find each other! As always, if you need any additional help, please contact us! We are here to help in any way we can. And last, a big THANK YOU to our local rescuers and page followers/participants. The View is chock full of animal lovers. Thank you all for your big hearts and open homes and for making our part of the world a better place! Disclaimer: This page is not affiliated with any animal control/humane association facility. Update: He came through surgery like a champ. The vet said he had congenitally small eyes which made the surgery more complicated, but he was able to remove the cataracts and implant the lenses so we are super optimistic. Stay tuned for updates and thanks.

*******************************************

We need some help. It's been a rough couple of days with hit by car dogs needing amputations and a couple of gunshot cases, but first up is Oliver. At very long last, after delays for pneumonia and a host of complications, Oliver is going to get his vision back today. Oliver was born with cataracts that have left him functionally blind. The excellent news we got yesterday was that he does not have detached retinas which significantly improves things. The bad news is this is still a $5K surgery.

Oliver has the issues he does because of poor breeding practices. His brother was born deaf. They are the result of a double merle breeding to try to get the oh so sellable blue merle coloring. What they got were deaf and blind dogs and we ended up with them when they were abandoned.

FROM the director of Williamson County Animal Center, Ondrea Johnson

Follow up on lost pets…

I am the Director of the Williamson County Animal Center and it’s very rare that I post anything publicly but I thought this was worth sharing.

Recently there was a dog posted on here as found and the normal conversation ensued about why the dog was roaming around without a chip. Chips are, in fact, the NUMBER ONE way dogs and cats are reunited with their owners. Pages like this are also a huge help. However, I do sometimes see people being shamed and blamed on social media as a result of a lot of assumptions. In the case of this particular dog, the finder had taken it to a local vet, no chip. It was brought to us, no chip. The owner arrived with proof of ownership and documentation from the breeder and the owners vet. According to record, the dog had TWO chips implanted at two separate times. Neither the vet clinic the finder used nor

we could detect a chip and we scanned three times.

The moral of the story is that it’s a good idea to have your vet rescan your pets for a chip each year at their annual visit. The great majority of the time, chips stay put. But apparently, sometimes even multiple chips will migrate. It’s always better to be on the safe side when it comes to keeping your pets safe.

WCAC has a microchip clinic on 11/22 from 9-11 AM.

If joy had fur and a tail, it would definitely look like Cole. This five year old big, bouncy boy has an endless enthusiasm for life and a heart full of sunshine. He LOVES fetch, loves adventures, and honestly? He just loves… everything.
On his latest field trip, Cole went shopping at a pet store and absolutely nailed it — polite, curious, and even remembered to keep that big ol’ tail in check.
Cole lives for meeting new people and handing out smiles like free samples. He’s fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, and ready to wiggle his way into your heart.

And hey! Holiday foster season is almost here — Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. If you’ve been thinking about fostering, now’s the perfect time. Fill out your foster application today (link in comments below) and make the holidays brighter for a shelter pet like Cole!

UPDATE: ADOPTED!
Little dog alert. Meet Jersey, doll. 💁‍♀️🗽

This 9-pound, 10-year-old Yorkie is tiny and she’s lookin’ for a cozy place to spend her golden years.

Through no fault of her own, Jersey found herself at Williamson County Animal Center, but she’s takin’ it all in stride like the classy lady she is. She’s fully vetted and—bonus—just had a fresh dental.

Jersey is a gentle, easygoing golden girl who’d be the perfect match for a senior hoping for a calm, loving companion. She just wants a warm lap, soft whispers, and maybe a little pampering.

If you’ve got room in your home (and your heart), come meet this sweetheart Thursday at Williamson County Animal Center.
