If you're in one of our offices this month, you'll see we have amber lights displayed along with some information on appendix cancer. August is appendix cancer awareness month - check out the website for more information about this rare form of cancer.

August is Appendix Cancer Awareness Month - a whole month dedicated to shining a light on this rare and often overlooked disease. Why? Because appendix cancer is on the rise, and greater awareness means more support, more research, and more hope for new treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

This year, Pseudomyxoma Survivor the Appendix Cancer PMP Research Foundation, PMP Pals Appendix Cancer Network, Abdominal Cancers Alliance, Association contre les maladies rares du péritoine, and Asociación Peritoneum stand together to increase understanding and support for people affected by appendix cancer and the related condition pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP).

Amber is the official color of Appendix Cancer Awareness. It represents the courage, strength, and resilience of patients, caregivers, and families facing this challenging diagnosis.

By uniting our voices and sharing knowledge across our platforms, we can reach more people and build a stronger community. Together, we are louder, braver, and more determined than ever.

Join us this August to spread awareness, honor those impacted, and push for progress in the fight against appendix cancer.

Why is it called Live Oak Dermatology???

At Live Oak Dermatology, our choice of name stems from a profound appreciation for the symbolism and beauty of live oak trees. While there are no live oaks in Erie, Pennsylvania, their representation of strength and resilience resonates deeply with our mission. Live oaks, with their ability to endure hurricanes due to a robust root system, stand as a symbol of unwavering strength. This symbolism holds a special place in our hearts, reflecting the values we embody at Live Oak Dermatology. Dr. Zaycosky and his family moved away from Erie to the south for residency and advanced training in Mohs surgery. However, it was the solid roots of family and friends in Erie that drew them back, making it the perfect place to establish their own practice. As a family-founded practice, Live Oak Dermatology is more than a dermatology office; it's a testament to our commitment to the health and well-being of our community. Returning to Pennsylvania signifies a homecoming, bringing our expertise and dedication to the place where our family has deep roots. We've had an exciting few weeks ---

We celebrated our ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY on February 14th!

Gene and Charity Snyder joined our Live Oak Dermatology family as our new PAs (new to us but not to dermatology!)

We're finally able to accept new patients!

COMING IN FEBRUARY!!!!!

We’re thrilled to welcome 2 experienced Physician Assistants to our practice!

Gene and Charity Snyder, a husband and wife team, are Gannon Alumni with Masters degrees in Physician Assistant Science. They are both certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and members of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. They have been practicing dermatology for a collective 18 years. In their spare time they enjoy many outdoor activities including fishing, hiking, and gardening. Both Northwest PA natives, they are eager to return and support the needs of local dermatology patients.
