Waking up at 3 a.m?
Going to bed hoping you’ll sleep through the night?
Are you an overthinker too?
Overthinking shows up for different reasons. Mine often comes from past experiences and trauma. It’s a work in progress. For me, it’s not just about giving myself grace, it’s about gently retraining the brain. Here are three tools that help when my thoughts spiral: 1. Word Game: I pick a letter and think of as many words as I can that start with it.
Why it works: It gives my mind a playful, structured challenge, pulling focus away from racing thoughts. 2. Grounding with Senses, I notice five things I can see, four I can touch, three I can hear, two I can smell, and one I can taste. Why it works: It anchors me in the present moment and reminds me I’m safe right now. 3. Gentle Breathing, I inhale for four counts, hold for four, exhale for four, and pause for four. Why it works: It calms the nervous system and creates space for rest. *** Another powerful tool is commUNITY. Joining our Village Wellness means you don’t have to navigate overthinking alone, you’ll find support, shared practices, and encouragement from others walking the same path. You are not alone!
