When Drake Lilam isn't protecting his quarterback's blindside on the University of Mary Football team, he's working with his other team, Sanford Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Bismarck.

The lineman is in the midst of wrapping up his football career while kickstarting his professional career as a registered nurse.

Samantha Richter, director of orthopedics and neurology at Sanford Health said, "Drake has just been an absolute joy to our patients and our team. He always comes with a positive attitude. He's extremely flexible and adaptable."

While Drake's size, toughness and physicality is a necessity for the Marauders, it comes in handy around the orthopedics unit as well: "We deal with a lot of hips, knees, joint replacements, broken bones, so when you have someone my size helping you get up for the first time after surgery, it adds a level of comfort to the patient."

The Sanford Health Foundation and Sanford International named Landyn the 2023 Sanford Children's Hospital Ambassador. Part of activities for the tournament included dropping off new toys at the Children's hospital and being treated to his own shopping spree at Scheels.

But not without the help of Rob Labritz of the PGA Tour Champions and Cindy Rarick of the LPGA who accompanied him throughout the process.
