How a State with 38 MFTs Turned Their Bill Into Law

Nice article, Shauna!

Up here in North Dakota, where we get around on sled dogs and live in igloos year-round, there are 38 LMFTs to serve a large, rural state. With high occurrences of substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and family and trauma-related stressors, there is often significant distance between…

Happy Thanksgiving! Here's a last-minute tip for holiday family gatherings: ask the kids what their favorite part about Thanksgiving (or Christmas, or any holiday or special occasion you may be celebrating)... they might surprise you with how simple their favorite things really are. It'll help keep the pressure down on having the "perfect" meal or the "perfect" decorations and instead focus on family, fun and the things that really make the memories. Cheers!

Meet Shauna Erickson, M.S., LAMFT

My style of therapy relies on the needs of the client(s) I am working with. When working with individuals, I focus our efforts on ways to separate the individual from the problems that have become intertwined in his or her day to day life. When I work with couples, I utilize a framework that helps us track patterns and discomfort attached to those patterns in order to help the couple realign and sync back up together.

Shauna Erickson is a Child and Family Therapist specializing in couples, families, kids and adolescent therapy.
