Dalton James Bruning Foundation

Dalton James Bruning Foundation The Dalton James Bruning Foundation has been created to forever remember his precious life and the life that would’ve been.

About the Foundation:
Dalton James Bruning was born via emergency c-section on October 20, 2014 at 1:31 AM, two minutes after his twin sister, Hadley Rae. They were born at 31 weeks gestation, nearly 2 months early. Minutes before birth, Dalton was thriving in the womb but was very small, weighing only 2 lbs 7 oz’s. Unfortunately, his little body couldn’t survive outside the womb and was pronounced dead upon arrival. His sister Hadley Rae was a little bigger at 3 lbs 5 oz’s but still incredibly small. She fought hard and spent 33 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Carle Foundation Hospital and came home just before Thanksgiving; nearly 3½ weeks prior to her term due date (something that is unusual given her early arrival – most preterm babies must wait until they are full term to be strong enough to go home). She has been thriving and growing stronger each day. As many can imagine the shock of losing Dalton was great and completely unexpected for the family. How does the money raised for the foundation work? First, we have created a scholarship in Dalton's name. This will be paid out annually to a Blue Ridge student beginning the year he should have graduated high school. In the past year, the foundation has provided an infant car seat to a NICU mother who couldn't afford one once her baby was ready to go home, multiple parking passes to families who have lengthy NICU stays, clothing, diapers, and other necessities for multiple families who have babies but struggle financially. Additionally, the foundation has made donations for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter meals for families who might otherwise not be able to afford one. In addition to these things, each year during the Memorial Golf Outing, the foundation will select an organization that had a great hand in not only Dalton’s life and memory but in Hadley and their parents, to make a donation with a portion of the funds raised in Dalton's name. If you would like to contribute financially to the Dalton James Bruning Foundation, you can either:
1. Snail mail your donation to: PO Box 214, Mansfield IL 61854

October 20th was Dalton and Hadley Rae's NINTH birthday 🥳🤯. We celebrated Dalton this year by wiping out the entire amazon wish list for Fine Arts at Schneider at Blue Ridge CUSD #18! We were able to donate multiple alternate seating options, sensory items, books, and other supplies. Check out the video for a walk through of all we were able to donate thanks to your generous remembrance and donations in honor of Dalton each year.

We were happy to help fulfill the Carle NICU wishlist this Halloween by purchasing Halloween themed, blankets & costumes.

We remember having hadley Rae in the NICU for her first Halloween and they dressed her as a pumpkin (see first pic) and so this was a great way to honor Dalton by helping these other tiny babies celebrate Halloween!

Enjoy the pictures!! 😍

We had the honor of joining 3 other local organizations in sponsoring the 7th Annual WCC Parent/Kid Golf Outing last weekend.

We had amazing weather and had over 40 kids came out and play with their adult of choice!

These kids are the future of the game and club so it was great to be able to provide this event free of charge to get them out there playing.

Hadley and Jamie came in 2nd in the 7-11 year old age bracket and she won the putting contest for her age bracket also.🥈🥇 While we are so proud of her, more than anything, we loved honoring our boy who we wish could be here playing too.

These things are AMAZING! I love a good summer night, sitting around the fire pit but I HATE the smoke. This solves that problem because it's SMOKELESS 🤯🤯.

$20 will get you a chance to win this! Need not be present to win -- Hadley Rae will pull the winning ticket at the end of the event on the 21st!

Do you know a Blue Ridge CUSD #18 teacher who goes above and beyond for students or who needs some extra recognition?

We’d love to hear about them!

Today, we surprised Schneider Kindergarten teacher, Melissa Ward, with a basket filled with gift cards and all her favorite things!

The DJB wanted to recognize Mrs. Ward because she volunteered and worked in the evenings serving as the remote-teacher for Addie Benjamin during her time at St. Jude’s in Nashville and while she was home bound.

You are amazing Mrs. Ward and your dedication to your students and the district is inspring!

Thank you for all you do!

Thank you to our supporters for investing in another Blue Ridge (soon to be) graduate!

Miss Addie’s 7th birthday is September 5th!

Let’s flood her with birthday cards and gifts! We’ve started an Amazon wish list with just some ideas of gifts (all ranging in price from $5-$20).

We hate that she can’t have a party with friends but this could be a way to soften that blow!

Wish list link in comments!
