Still gathering my thoughts from this past week at VLC & the AMTA National Conference in Dallas. I’m not the best at remembering to take pictures, and even worse at being in them. BUT I did get to hug the necks, and catch a photo with these two incredible women.

Being in a hands-on profession, our teachers play such a big role in helping shape us. I’ve been so blessed with so many amazing teachers along this journey. I’m also fascinated by the “lineage” of teachers. Last year, I had a chance encounter with Kim, who taught my very first teacher, Tina, and I was in awe. This summer I learned that Ann was Kim’s direct teacher. (Ann was also one of my own instructors for a few classes - including my nerve-wracking practical!)

It’s such a gift to cross paths with these inspiring educators who continue to blaze the trail for all of us. I’m so grateful for the chance to see them again and be reminded of the ripple effect teachers have on our lives and careers.

This photo is from my high school yearbook - way back when. It got me thinking, I worked with clay every opportunty i coild get. Working with clay is a lot like massage—both require presence, patience, and a deep connection through touch.
