Movement isn’t just good for Parkinson’s. It’s one of the most powerful tools we have to slow it down.

I’m partnering with Boston Scientific to bring you a free presentation on how exercise impacts Parkinson’s disease. We’ll talk about what the research says, why it matters, and what actually works.

Freezing can feel unpredictable, especially when it happens in real-life moments like walking through a doorway, turning, or starting to walk.

But your response to freezing can be trained.
The goal is not to force your way through it.
The goal is to pause, shift your weight, and use a clear external cue like stepping over a threshold, aiming for a target, counting out loud, or using a rhythm.

These strategies work best when they are practiced before freezing happens.

Daily practice helps your brain and body learn what to do, so you are not trying to figure it out in the moment.

You can also track progress by asking:
Did I freeze less often?
Did I recover faster?
Did I feel more confident?
That is real progress.

Freezing is not something you should have to navigate alone. If it is affecting your confidence or mobility, this is exactly what I help people work on.

There’s more than one way to do PT, and I love what we’ve built here.
1:1 sessions. Longer appointments. Care that looks at your whole life, not just your diagnosis.
You get time. You get individualization. You get someone who actually knows your story.
It’s a different model, and it’s one I’m really proud of.

When freezing happens, pushing harder is usually not the answer.

Your brain often needs a clearer signal.
That is where cueing strategies can help.

Try this simple reset:
Pause
Shift your weight
Use an external cue

For example, step over the doorway threshold, aim for a spot on the floor, count out loud, or use a rhythm.

The key is practicing this before freezing happens, not only in the moment when you already feel stuck.

Daily practice helps you build a response you can rely on.
Track whether freezing happens less often, whether you recover faster, and whether you feel more confident moving through the doorway.
That is progress.

If freezing is impacting your confidence or mobility, this is something we can work on together.

Freezing at a doorway can feel scary, frustrating, and unpredictable.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is trying to force their way through it.

Freezing is not usually solved by pushing harder.

A better approach is to pause, shift your weight, and use a clear external cue like stepping over the threshold, counting, or aiming for a target.

These strategies work best when they are practiced consistently, not only when freezing happens.

That is how you build confidence.
You train the response before you need it.

If freezing is affecting your mobility or confidence, this is something we can work on together.

Can you do it?

04/29/2026

Leaving the counting typos because sometimes it’s truly like that 🤭🤭🤭

If your balance exercises feel easy… they are probably not doing much for you.

Real life isn’t just standing still.

It is walking, thinking, turning, reacting.

That’s where most people struggle.
And that’s what needs to be trained.

The goal is not to make things harder just for the sake of it.
It is to challenge your system in a way that actually translates to daily life.

If you don’t know what level you should be working at, that’s where most people get stuck.

If you’ve ever stopped walking just to finish a sentence… you’re not alone.

In Parkinson’s and MS, walking takes more attention than it used to. So when you add talking, your brain has to choose what to focus on.

That’s why you slow down or stop.
This isn’t a failure. It’s a pattern.
And it’s something we can train.

That tight, stiff feeling in MS can be frustrating.

Most people are told to stretch more, push through, or work harder.

But spasticity doesn’t work that way.

It’s not just about muscle length. It’s about how your nervous system is communicating.

What tends to help more:
• Slow, controlled movement
• Longer, relaxed stretching
• Positioning throughout your day

If you’ve been doing “all the right things” and still feeling stuck, this might be why.

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month.

Exercise is one of the most powerful tools we have to support mobility, independence, and quality of life.
