KNWA - Northwest Arkansas News

The support group is offered by the Pastoral Care Department of Washington Regional.

Creekside Center for Women

We regret to hear that the Birth Center of NWA is closing their doors in the coming months and understand the loss to Northwest Arkansas’ birthing community. We understand that this has a huge impact on the families who have delivered babies there in the past, or planned to do so in the future. While there’s no replacement for the Birth Center, we want to welcome families to come meet our Certified Nurse-Midwife, Samantha Corral, and see if midwifery care in a hospital setting is a good fit for them!

Our wireless, waterproof monitors make it easy to move around in labor and go from birthing ball, to shower, to peanut ball- allowing each patient to labor the way that feels right to them. Our dedicated women’s hospital, Willow Creek, is Baby-Friendly Certified- encouraging skin-to-skin contact, delayed cord-clamping, keeping moms and babies together in their room, and supporting mamas in their quest to breastfeed.

We’re here to answer questions and continue to provide women the options they deserve for their healthcare needs. If you’d like to meet with our midwife, call Creekside at (479) 582-9268 and set up an appointment today!

Postpartum Support International

"Any of you that have struggled with postpartum depression or anxiety know that once your baby turns a year old, your intrusive thoughts don’t suddenly stop. The feelings of dread or inadequacy suddenly don’t turn into thoughts of love and total confidence. This is why we have to recognize and advocate strongly that postpartum depression doesn’t just end after one year."

Wellness & Courage

Thank you to everyone who came to show your support at tonight’s Open House. A huge shout out to Nellie B's Bakery, in Elkins, for showing their support by generously donating a vast array of delicious dessert items. They were a HUGE hit!

Come see us!

Wellness & Courage is teaming up with Dr. Keith Berner, with Bluebird Health, to host this event. We would love for you to join us Friday, September 7 from 4-6 PM at 112 W Center Street, 2nd Floor.

Postpartum Support International

"A big part of the problem is that the illness itself makes it hard to talk to others, for fear of looking "crazy" or like a "bad mom." Moms share what postpartum depression is really like and what they wish they’d known about it."

Dr. Margaret Rutherford

I had the distinct honor of interviewing Susan Averitt who is living with the lifelong grief of losing a child. She's founded Parents Left Behind and their annual seminar is upcoming on August 25th, here in Northwest Arkansas. Her entire life has been changed and will never be the same. Please read if you share this unthinkable grief or please share with those who have. Thank you.

Jamy Hunter, Licensed Professional Counselor

Beginning September 26th, I will be facilitating a trauma recovery group, focusing on decreasing the impact of past trauma on current life. If you are a trauma survivor and would like to work further on your trauma recovery, please contact me at the information listed in the flyer.

Group therapy IS NOT a replacement for individual therapy, but rather an additional tool for growth. Therefore, you need to actively be in therapy in order to participate in this group.

It is a 10 week course, at $40.00 for each group session. Participants pay $200 to reserve a spot, then $200 before the first group. I will give all participants a receipt that they can turn in to their insurance provider.

Participants can go to www.wellnessandcourage.com/therapy-groups/trauma-recovery-group to register.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions.
