If you’re an orange juice drinker, you might want to stay away from this brand. Your best option is to buy oranges and juice them yourself.

My favorite brand is Uncle Matt's Organic

Is your makeup making you sick?

“PFAS - perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances - are a class of over 8,000 man-made chemicals, and include PFOA, PFOS, and GenX. PFAS chemicals are also known as "forever chemicals" because they don't break down in the environment. These chemicals can bioaccumulate in bodies over time and have been linked to cancer, autoimmune disease, thyroid disease, liver damage, decreased fertility, birth defects, hormone disruption, obesity and decreased immunity.”

Read that last line again….

These chemicals can bioaccumulate in bodies over time and have been linked to cancer, autoimmune disease, thyroid disease, liver damage, decreased fertility, birth defects, hormone disruption, obesity and decreased immunity.

If 2022 is the year you make your health priority #1, that should include paying attention to not only what you eat, but the chemicals you’re putting on your body.

Have you taken a friend inventory lately?

When it comes to your health, do you have a friend who:

Is there to support your mental health? Having someone we know we can turn to when life is overwhelming, when we're sad or frustrated and just need to vent, or simply to check in and make sure we're okay is crucial in our health journey.

Is your go-to for exercise whether it's hiking, spotting you at the gym, biking or walking with you and your dog? We tend to adhere to exercise plans or routines when there's someone to tag along with us.

Is there to encourage and support you during your healthy journey? Who is your person that will meal prep with you, hit the farmer's market, or text you a reminder to drink your water?

Let's face it, when we make the decision to be healthy, it requires new routines, habits, and lifestyle changes. One of the questions I ask new clients during our introductory call is to tell me about their support system. Having those friends (and family) surrounding you with encouraging words, actions, and maybe even walking the walk with you, makes the process more enjoyable, gives you accountability, and allows for more success.

Tag a friend health-minded friend for whom you're grateful.

Are you doing a ?

I love the thought of spending the month focusing on gratitude. Let's try a different spin on the November gratitude challenge and challenge ourselves to try new vegetables or simply a new recipe with an old favorite.

Show gratitude to your body by giving it nourishing, seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Root veggies (yes, potatoes 🥔 ) and cruciferous vegetables (Brussels sprouts are my current fave) can be found in abundance.

And let's not forget about pumpkin 🎃 - not the fake manufactured spice - the real, deal food. Have you tried pumpkin mac and cheese? If not, you don't know what you're missing.

Drop your favorite November produce in the comments

Remember running barefoot as a kid? I loved sinking my feet into the plush, green Pennsylvania grass, laughing as I chased my friends. It was pure joy.

As an adult living in Florida, I'm not a fan of our 'crunchy' St. Augustine grass, yet I relish any chance I get to dig my feet into the sand, smell the salt air, listen to the waves crashing, and as soon as I do, I can feel the stress slip away.

The practice of our skin having direct contact to the Earth is known as grounding and has been used in cultures around the world for ages.

Research is finding many health benefits and it's believed that when our skin connects with the Earth, electrons engage with our skin and body, thus impacting immune markers.

I challenge you to get outside, enjoy some sun (bonus points for getting vitamin D), and try this practice. Spend as little as 10 minutes or up to an hour.

Let me know what you do and how you feel.

Is your gut healthy? If you’re experiencing constipation, chronic diarrhea, bloating, gas, brain fog, weight gain, these are just a few signs that your gut needs some TLC.

When working with clients, we look at a clients chemical exposure or toxicity. Environmental chemicals - whether in the form of personal care products, VOCs (you’re exposed when you pump gas), cleaning products, glyphosate exposure and so many more.

Our bodies are constantly under attack and we need to make sure our internal systems are functioning optimally so they can detox the chemicals from our body.

The authors of a new study in Environmental Health Perspectives identified 300 chemicals — 219 of which had not been previously identified as potential carcinogens — that can increase levels of breast cancer-contributing hormones.

Local is always best.

When it comes to beef, look for pasture-raised, grass-fed (and preferably, grass-finished). Regenerative farming is not only good for the animals, it's the best thing for the environment.

Food feeds our body. Feed it well.

𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗦𝗦-𝗙𝗘𝗗 🌿 𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗦𝗦-𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗗

Your beef 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 eats grain. The animals consume their mother’s milk before weaning and grass after weaning. Our pastures are seasonally planted with grasses and legumes that are nutritious for the animals but also aid in growing flavorful beef. We pride ourselves on transparency! You should know where you food comes from and how it was raised.

Are the foods you're eating or giving your kids changing their DNA?

My friend and talented photographer, Kelly Vann Calaway, was in town was in town a few months ago and while we were taking photos for my website (coming soon), this little one had to be the center of attention.

A dog (or in my case, a four-legged child) comes with many health benefits.

🚶‍♀️Dog owners are more active. Studies show that people who walk their dog get Moore exercise than those who don't

💜 Dogs can help you be calmer, more mindful, and more present in your life

🥰 Petting your dog can reduce your blood pressure and heart rate (hello, stress!)

🙂 Interacting with your dog can boost your "happy hormones" - oxytocin, serotonin, and dopamine, thus lowering the stress hormone cortisol

😔 A dog can ease depression

🐹💋 Puppy kisses and unconditional love just make everything better

Don't have a dog? What are you waiting for? Go get one now!

Oh, and happy , Jackson! Mama loves you.

I was talking to a friend yesterday and the topic of self care came up.

I'll admit, since my father's cancer diagnosis and subsequent passing, self care hasn't been high on my to-do list. There's my mom, brother with special needs, school, starting a business, being a wife, and dog mom.

Yes, I know that rest is important, eating a balanced diet full of whole, nutrient dense foods is crucial, drinking tons of water is vital, and sleep, beautiful sleep, is one of the best gifts we can give ourselves.

Here's the thing. I'm walking a path to whole wellness just like my clients. Some days we nail it, others, well, we realize tomorrow is a brand new day.

When women think of self care, we tend to think of a spa day; manicures, pedicures, and facials or a long walk on the beach. All those sound glorious right now.

My friend has a standing date with her therapist every Friday. That's one of the best forms of self care.

Working on the inside - our thoughts, feelings, and how they affect our physical being (stress) truly play a role in our overall health.

As we come upon Valentine's Day, make a commitment to show yourself some love (and grace).

Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year - equating approximately one woman every minute.

While there are many things that contribute to heart disease, there are steps you can take to protect your heart and overall health.

🥦 Eat plenty of vegetables, especially cruciferous vegetables like broccoli
💦 Stay hydrated and drink at least half your body weight in water. Limit caffeine and alcohol.
🧘‍♀️ Rest is vital to overall health and plays an important role in ❤️ health
🚴‍♀️ Move your body!
🍟 Avoid processed foods - period.

Avoiding foods and things like stress that cause inflammation within the body are so important.
