Some nights, sleep just feels out of reach. The lights are low, the house is quiet, but my thoughts are still pacingโ€”sometimes itโ€™s worry, sometimes just the leftover buzz of the day.

Whatโ€™s helped me isnโ€™t forcing myself to unwind, but meeting my body where it is and gently shifting the pace. Hereโ€™s my nighttime reset:

1๏ธโƒฃ A few slow breaths before anything else. Just inhale through the nose, exhale longer through the mouth. No fixing, just softening the edge.

2๏ธโƒฃ A light source of warmth. If Iโ€™m restless, a warm shower or even just holding a mug of herbal tea helps mark the transition to rest.

3๏ธโƒฃ A familiar tea I associate with night. Not just for its ingredients, but for the ritualโ€”holding the cup, breathing in the scent, letting it signal โ€œslow down.โ€

4๏ธโƒฃ A gentle return to my body. Noticing how the mattress supports me, unclenching my jaw, dropping my shoulders. It doesnโ€™t erase the thoughts, but it makes them less urgent. My body feels safe, and my mind eventually follows.

You donโ€™t have to fall asleep fast for it to count. These small rituals remind your system itโ€™s okay to slow down, even if your mindโ€™s still catching up.

**Here are three everyday ways to support your kidney health:**
