Happy Wednesday!

This week, we welcome our newest team member, Jackie Nordmann, LCSW. She joins us with a specialty in working with children! She also works with adolescents using a variety of modalities related to mindfulness, somatics, and play.

Jackie will have a sand tray in her office for sand tray therapy. Sand tray therapy involves picking out specific prompts (toys) and placing them into the sand tray. The prompts help children construct a narrative that reflects their emotional concerns. The therapist helps them work through and process the narratives, finding new ways to look at things as well as just "get it out".

What are the five signs of narcissism?

Low empathy: I can't see someone else's perspective, and I don't care to; it's just not a priority for me

Pathological selfishness: "If I want the temp set on 65, others can just deal with it!"

An excessive need for validation and admiration: Fishing for compliments, taking up all the energy in a room, even with humming or noise makers or long monologues, becoming upset if you go to bed rather than finishing the movie because they need to be central, bragging about their accomplishments

Impulsivity, especially anger, if they don't get their way: If you set a boundary, not only do they not respect it, but they also become enraged

Grandiosity: Believing they deserve special treatment. "I don't have to change a diaper!" "If I don't want to wait in a line, I won't!" "I'm not cleaning a litter box!" "You need to answer the phone even if you are at work!"
