A rip current is a powerful channel of water moving away from shore. These currents can quickly pull swimmers away from the beach, but staying calm and knowing how to respond is key.
π‘ Rip Current Safety Tips:
βοΈ Swim near a lifeguard whenever possible
βοΈ Pay attention to warning flags and beach conditions
βοΈ Never panic if caught in a rip current
βοΈ Swim PARALLEL to the shore to escape the current
βοΈ Float or tread water if you canβt escape right away
βοΈ Always keep a close eye on children near the ocean
π Remember: Rip currents are the #1 cause of beach rescues. Awareness and preparation make all the difference.
