In an incredible show of community effort and compassion, 377,352 fortified meals were recently packed and prepared for families affected by conflict, displacement, and food insecurity in Chad.

Volunteers and partners worked side by side to assemble and carefully package each meal, contributing to a humanitarian initiative focused on bringing essential nutrition to people facing extremely difficult conditions.

These meals will be distributed among refugee shelters and vulnerable communities where access to consistent food sources remains a daily challenge.

HKRF remains deeply grateful ,Then Feed Just One , and every person and organization whose time, dedication, and support continue making efforts like these possible.

Helping Kids Round First continues to support farmers in the dry corridor of Nicaragua, including communities in Somoto and Somotillo, as the next planting season begins.

Communities in Somoto have already started the second annual planting stage, while families and collectives in Somotillo are preparing to begin next week. These kits include seeds, fertilizers, and crop care products intended to support both the second planting stage of 2026 and the first planting stage of 2027.

In partnership with the Nicaraguan Lutheran Church, these kits were delivered to both individual farmers and larger family collectives now preparing for this new cycle together. After encouraging harvests in previous seasons, there is growing excitement and anticipation for what this next stage may bring.

Did you know? ⚾️

In 2016, Helping Kids Round First marked an important milestone with its first ocean container shipment of baseball and softball equipment, which arrived in Managua.

That initial shipment included over 18,000 pounds of gear, reaching more than a thousand children across dozens of communities in Nicaragua—expanding access to sports in a meaningful way.

Since then, these efforts have continued to grow. To date, over 38,000 baseballs and softballs, 7,600 bats, 29,000 uniforms, 6,400 gloves, 1,120 catcher’s sets, and 6,300 pairs of cleats have been distributed.

What started as a small initiative has grown into a sustained effort that continues to open doors for young athletes, creating spaces where they can develop, stay engaged, and pursue new opportunities.

Recently, the teachers at Belén Garden participated in an introductory workshop on autism in education, focused on providing new tools and approaches to better support children within the classroom environment.

This training comes at an important time, as Belén Garden currently supports several children with autism as part of its educational community. Opportunities like these help strengthen the care, understanding, and attention given to students each day.

The workshop was led by psychologist and shadow teacher Darhen Bermudez, a former beneficiary of the HKRF Scholarship Program, who now works supporting children with autism and promoting more inclusive learning environments.

Continued learning for educators plays an important role in creating more inclusive and supportive spaces where every child can continue to grow and learn.

On International Worker's Day, we take a moment to recognize the effort and dedication of individuals who work every day to support their families and strengthen their communities.

From those building small businesses and working the land in rural areas like Somoto and Somotillo, to those providing care at Belén Garden and supporting early childhood spaces in Rivas, each role reflects commitment, perseverance, and the drive to move forward.

We also recognize those contributing through humanitarian efforts in conflict-affected areas and refugee settings, where daily work helps provide essential support and maintain stability in challenging conditions.

Their work, carried out with consistency and purpose, plays an essential part in creating opportunities and strengthening the communities they are part of.

Today, we acknowledge and appreciate the impact of all workers whose daily efforts continue to shape meaningful change.

Books continue to be one of the most accessible and lasting ways to learn, offering knowledge that can be carried into everyday life.

That same foundation is reflected across the programs we support:
📚 In spaces like Belén Garden, books help spark curiosity from an early age.

🧑‍🎓 As students grow, that habit of learning continues through the Scholarship Program, where education becomes a pathway toward new opportunities.

👨‍🌾 In rural communities, learning also takes shape in practical ways, where knowledge is applied to daily work, strengthening skills that support families and livelihoods.

Across each of these stages, learning remains at the center connecting early education, personal growth, and the ability to move forward.
