We are to announce that Baptist Medical Center Clay has received the highest quality distinction for stroke care from the American Heart Association! Not only did earn the Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite award, but all five of our adult hospitals were also awarded the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus quality achievement award and Target: Type 2 Diabetes℠ Honor Roll award.

Not all stroke centers are created equal, and these elite awards recognize our commitment to providing state-of-the-art treatment to patients as quickly as possible. Our multi-disciplinary teams work together across our sites to provide life-saving care every day. Baptist Stroke & Cerebrovascular Center is the regional leader in advanced diagnostics and treatments for strokes, brain aneurysms and other cerebrovascular conditions. The center’s reach extends to more than two dozen hospitals and satellite ERs via the Telestroke Program, which virtually connects physicians and health care professionals in the greater Jacksonville area and South Central Georgia with Baptist Health’s stroke experts. Accessible 24/7, the program promotes quicker diagnosis and treatment, reduces disability and saves lives.

Congratulations to the Recovery Services Team on their recent DAISY Award!

This recovery services team takes patient satisfaction to the next level! This team consistently goes above and beyond to provide not only expert clinical care, but also emotional, mental and physical support from the very start of the patient journey through to recovery and discharge. Through leadership rounding before and after surgery, personalized one-on-one pre-admissions, and follow-ups with inpatient surgical patients, they’re enhancing communication every step of the way.

As Leeann approaches her well-earned retirement at the end of this year, we reflect on the incredible impact she has made throughout her career. We’ve seen some recent comments about C-section rates at our hospital and want to provide accurate information. According to the latest data from The Leapfrog Group (which is an independent national nonprofit that rates hospitals based on safety and quality), Baptist Clay’s Cesarean section rate is 21.3%, which is the lowest in Clay County.

📣 Important update regarding OB Services

Beginning Monday, July 14, 2025, Dr. Hyler and Associates will no longer provide OB services at Baptist Clay and will transition their deliveries to other hospitals. We thank the Dr. Hyler Group for their support in expanding our OB program at Baptist Clay, and we look forward to working with them to ensure a smooth transition for their patients. If you are a patient with their practice and have questions, please contact their office directly at 904.264.1628.

Baptist Clay takes pride in providing high-quality care in a safe and compassionate environment for all our patients. We remain dedicated to delivering OB services in the Clay community, including a Level 2 NICU, which offers a specialized nursery ideal for moderate preterm infants and newborns requiring close monitoring after birth.

In 2024, we proudly welcomed more than 1,350 babies—and we’re here to continue supporting moms and growing families with expert care in a warm and friendly environment.

June 19th marks a pivotal moment in our nation's history. Known as Juneteenth, this day celebrates the end of slavery in the United States — when freedom finally reached the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, in 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

It’s a day to honor the strength, resilience and triumph of those who came before us — and to celebrate the progress and hope their legacy continues to inspire.
