Our Labor & Delivery team knows what a privilege it is to help welcome new life into the world — which is why we’re proud to have some of the very best on our team. 💙

Amanda is a nurse in our Labor & Delivery department who brings more than 20 years of experience, compassion and dedication to every family she cares for. We thought we’d ask her a few questions so you could get to know her a little better! ✨

Q: How long have you been a nurse, and what led you to this career path?
A: I’ve been a nurse for almost 21 years, and honestly—it comes down to one thing: I’m a people person to my core. I’ve always been drawn to connecting with others, showing up for them when they need it most, and making a difference in real, meaningful moments.

Q: Why did you choose Labor & d]Delivery?
A: Contrary to popular belief, I didn’t choose labor & delivery for the babies—I chose it for the moms. I’m a total girl’s girl, and I love empowering women. There’s something incredibly special about supporting someone through one of the most transformative experiences of their life and helping them realize just how strong they really are.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about being an L&D nurse?
A: I love being part of such raw, real and unforgettable moments. I get to walk alongside patients and their families during some of the most vulnerable—and most meaningful—times of their lives. The way a woman experiences her labor story stays with her forever, and I take that responsibility to heart. I want every story to be told with love, strength, and support. Behind every delivery is a labor nurse who gave everything she had to make sure both mom and baby made it through safely—and I’m so proud to be part of that.

Q: What are some lessons you’ve learned during your time on the L&D unit?
A: I’m a bit of a free spirit, so I naturally go with the flow—but I’ve seen how hard it can be when birth doesn’t match the plan in your head. It’s okay to have a vision, but I've learned that holding it too tightly can turn normal, necessary changes into real disappointment. There’s so much power in being able to pivot, adapt and still feel proud of your story.

Q: Why should people choose Baptist to deliver their babies?
A: This one is easy—Baptist truly holds itself to the highest standard of care. From the doctors and nurses to environmental services and dietary staff, every single person is there for the patient. It’s a team effort in the best way, and you can feel that level of dedication the moment you walk in. You’re not just cared for—you’re genuinely supported every step of the way.

Q: What’s one myth you’re passionate about debunking?
A: Just because you can be induced doesn’t always mean you should be. Especially with a first baby, if there’s no medical reason (follow your providers’ advice), waiting until your body is truly ready—whether that’s spontaneous labor or a more favorable cervix—can make a big difference in how your labor experience unfolds. Patience can really pay off.

Q: What’s your #1 tip for new parents?
A: Take advice from friends, do your own research, and trust your instincts—but always remember there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to labor, delivery, postpartum or parenting. Sometimes it’s survival mode, and that’s okay. If you’re doing your best, you’re doing great.

Q: What’s a fun fact about you?
A: I spend an embarrassing amount of time (and money!) at local plant nurseries. If I had to pick a job outside of labor and delivery, you could find me in the flower section!

Thanks for always making us , Amanda. Let's hear it for her in the comments! 🎉 💙

One of the nurses who ensures we’re always making the birthing experience as smooth as possible is Katelynn, and we thought we’d ask her a few questions so you could get to know her better. After all, she could be in the room with you when the newest member of your family arrives!

Q: How long have you been a nurse, and what led you to a career in health care?
A: 8 years. Growing up, I was torn between nursing and teaching. In high school, I was placed in the CNA program, which proved that nursing was the path that I should take.

Q: Why did you choose Labor & Delivery?
A: I wanted to be there for women at one of the most vulnerable moments in their life and support them for the happiest moments or the hardest moments in life.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about being an L&D nurse?
A: Seeing the look in parents' eyes when they get to meet their baby for the first time.

Q: What are some lessons you’ve learned during your time on the L&D unit?
A: Trust your gut, be prepared for the worst, so you are not caught off guard.

Q: Why should people choose Baptist to deliver their babies?
A: We have an amazing team that works together to provide the best care.

Q: What’s one myth you’re passionate about debunking?
A: That labor looks the same for everyone: Labor is unique to each person and each pregnancy.

Q: What’s your #1 tip for new parents?
A: Birth is unpredictable, come in with a game plan but remain flexible to changes if things aren't going as planned. The number one goal should be a healthy baby and a healthy mother.

Q: What’s a fun fact about you?
A: I was 29 before I flew on an airplane and 31 before leaving the country.

Thanks for always making us , Katelynn. Let's hear it for her in the comments! 🎉 💙

The theme of at was "Ready To Roar", and boy did we ever! 🐆

We wanted to celebrate the incredible health care heroes on our team, so we planned a series of themed days ranging from favorite sports teams to fun throwbacks to the ‘70s and ‘80s. Some of the outfits around campus may have turned a few heads, but our team had an amazing time celebrating together! 💙
