Last night I had the wonderful opportunity to document the work of the Asheville Buncombe Institute of Parity Achievement (ABIPA) during their annual Christmas event for the community. I volunteered to photograph the event, which was took place starting at 7pm and lasting well after 11pm. During that time, the ABIPA staff fed more than 300 people in the community, provided musical entertainment via a DJ and karaoke, gave the kids the opportunity to have photos with Mr. & Mrs. Claus, and gave each attendee the opportunity to shop the ABIPA Life Center for any essential supplies, such as diapers, toiletries, home & pet supplies, gift cards, groceries, and more. ALL OF THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY FREE TO THE COMMUNITY! Plus, every kid got to chance to pick any toys they wanted for themselves. It was such an inspiring and wonderful event to witness and photograph. Thank you to ABIPA for allowing me to be a small part of your event, capturing the true spirit of the holidays.
