In our community, disability support and advocacy matter more than many people realize. In fact, about 20.2% of Flint residents under age 65 live with a disability, compared to 13.7% across Genesee County.
One thing that makes Flint special is the number of organizations dedicated to helping people live independently and thrive. Organizations like us at Vocational Independence Program (VIP) are part of a strong network that includes The Disability Network, Specialized Employment Services (Flint STRIVE), Michigan Rehabilitation Services, Disability Rights Michigan, and the Michigan School for the Deaf.
Together, these organizations support individuals through employment training, independent living skills, advocacy, education, and community resources.
Flint faces challenges, but our community continues to show up. Working together to help people build skills, gain independence, and create brighter futures.
