The most rewarding part of my career is caring for people and saving lives in my community. I love that my job is something different on every single call from just comforting a patient to saving the trauma patients.

"Hi, I'm Jake, and I've been in EMS for 5 years. I currently am an AEMT, and I'm going through paramedic school. I've been honored to be able to serve the residents of Lauderdale County for 3 years now. I've also recently been promoted to Field Training Officer, which allows me to be able to train new EMS providers and share my love of the job. My favorite part about EMS is the opportunity I'm granted every day to help someone in a time of need, regardless of how big or small."

✨ EMPLOYEE ANNIVERSARY SPOTLIGHT✨

“Hi, I’m Mattie Ann! I’ve been in EMS for 11 years! I started this career by joining my local volunteer fire department. At the time, we didn’t have any EMTs in our jurisdiction. The department offered to send me to the EMS fire academy, so I went willingly- not knowing it would change the entire trajectory of the course of my life. I fell in love with this field, not just because of the job, but what it stands for. My favorite quote is “be the change you wish to see in the world” and I believe that’s what EMS is. We can’t stop bad things from happening, but we can be there when they do. Comfort, compassion, kindness, knowledge, skill, and sometimes just knowing someone cares, whatever you require in that moment, we get the honor and privilege of providing whatever you need, when you need it the most. I can’t think of anything more rewarding than dedicating my life to being the change in the world, even if it’s just a small change, because all the the big changes start with the small ones! I look forward to continuing to serve our community and be part of this rapidly progressing field!”
