📜 Official Proclamation | National Marriage Week
We are grateful to the City of Florence and Florence City Council for officially recognizing February 7–14, 2026 as National Marriage Week in the City of Florence.
Strong, healthy marriages are foundational to strong families — and strong families help our entire community flourish.
As National Marriage Week approaches, we encourage couples, families, churches, and community organizations across Florence to join us in celebrating, strengthening, and supporting marriages at every stage.

It was a beautiful day for lunch outside after worship ☀️ The Flourishing Families team met for fellowship and a ministry update at the Trailhead. We visited, encouraged one another and enjoyed delicious food while the kids played. Community and such a blessing!

Who needs a break? 🙋🏽‍♀️ Sabbath rest is the topic of conversation at our next Flourishing Families gathering. Join us this coming Sunday, September 28th at the picnic tables behind Naturally Outdoors. Get lunch from Buddy’s Burgers or pack a picnic. We will meet at noon to eat and discuss our summer book: The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer. We’ll visit and brainstorm while the kids play. This event is free and open to the public. Bring a friend!

Intentional Parenting, a community panel discussion will be held in the meeting room of the Drs Bruce and Lee Florence County Library on Wednesday, February 26th @ noon. Bring your questions for the panel! Lunch provided. Donations accepted. Children welcome!

Today marks the beginning of National Marriage Week!
What follows is a proclamation about marriage

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, marriage is the first institution created by the LORD before any other, and the biblical model is defined as consisting of one man and one woman joined by the LORD; and

WHEREAS, marriage is the foundational relationship for all of society, and good marriages are the bedrock of strong societies, for they are also the foundations of strong families; and

WHEREAS, marriage continues to be the most popular voluntary institution in that over 90% of individuals in our society marry at least once; and

WHEREAS, based on a wealth of academic research, married people tend to have healthier lifestyles, live longer, have more satisfying sexual relationships, have more wealth & economic assets, and have children that tend to do better academically and emotionally; and

WHEREAS, divorce costs, financial & relational, have a significant negative impact on our society, but by supporting and encouraging strong marriages, every unit of investment brings a positive multi-fold return into our society; and

WHEREAS, in Florence and beyond, according to the holy scriptures in Hebrews 13:4, marriage should be honored by all for the good of all

NOW, THEREFORE, WE, do hereby proclaim on this 7th day of February 2025 that:

February 7 Through February 14 to be recognized as National Marriage Week

We encourage the recognition of NATIONAL MARRIAGE WEEK (February 7-14) because matrimony is significant and makes a powerful contribution to the Flourishing of Florence.

Marriage Monday! Who the Lord brings together, let no man separate. Trusting the Lord with your marriage is an active process. It’s a day by day, step by step walk in obedience of surrendering to the Lord. No marriage is invincible. Trust the Lord and He will see you through whatever trial comes into your marriage.
