It's never to late to prepare for the Ramadan to get the most out of this blessed month.
So, let's discuss How To Make The Most of This Blessed Month?
✅Tip # 1. Remind Yourself of The True Purpose of Ramadan
The true purpose behind fasting in Ramadan is to gain Taqwa, work on our relationship with Allah(swt) and get closer to Him.
In Quran Allah says, “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous. [Al-Baqarah - 183]
Taqwa means fearing Allah, obeying the commands of Allah, being content with little, and preparing for the day of judgement.
Now the question is how can we gain Taqwa in Ramadan?
- In Ramadan, we reconnect with the book of Allah and try to read and understand its meaning which reminds us of our true purpose and help us to work on our emaan.
- In Ramadan Allah has promised us forgiveness for all our past sins if we sincerely ask for His forgiveness. It is the best time to repent to Allah for our previous sins, make loads of duas and revive our relationship with Allah (swt).
- As humans we tend to take everything in life for granted and forget to thank our Creator for many blessings that Be has bestiwed upon us. But in Ramadan, fasting put in us a sense of gratitude for all that Allah has blessed us with. Fasting makes us appreciate the value of food and drink. This sense of gratefulness helps us to up lift our Taqwa.
- As a result, we become more compassionate towards the poor and needy. We start giving charity in the way of Allah (swt) and that brings us closer to Allah(swt).
✅Tip # 2. Try to Pray All Kinds of Prayers & Increase Your Duas
Allah’s Messenger (saw) said, “Whoever prayed at night in it (the month of Ramadan) out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven.” [Sahih al-Bukhari]
- Try to pray the 5 daily prayers on time
- Pray atleast 2 rakah Ishraq/Duha prayer
- Pray Taraweeh prayer after isha
- Tahajjud: Try to get up 20 - 30 minutes earlier for suhoor and utilize this time to pray tahjjud, seek Allah’s forgiveness and make loads of duas.
Try to make dua as much as you can especially before Iftar and in Qiyam-ul-Layl during sujood and ask Allah(swt) for whatever your heart wishes and for the best of both worlds.
✅Tip # 3. Spend More Time with Quran
Ramadan is the month of Quran. Allah says in Quran, “The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.” [Al-Baqarah-185]
Allah (swt) wants us to recite Quran in this month like we never recited it before, reflect on it like we never reflected upon it before, and memorize it like we never memorized it before. It’s not just another Ramadan but another opportunity for us to get closer to Allah(swt) by reconnecting ourselves with His book.
Set realistic goals for yourself on how you can spend more time with Quran for greater benefit.
For example
- You can Memorize a portion of Quran this Ramadan
- You can study its meaning and tafseer
- You can listen to its recitation and improve your recitation
- You can set a goal to complete its recitation once or twice in this Ramadan according to your time and capacity.
Moreover, you can also register yourself for a tafseer course or participate in a Daur-e-Quran or any other course that assist you to become a better Muslimah and improve your relationship with Allah(swt).
✅Tip # 4. Spend in Charity
Anas(R.A) asked, “Which charity is best” upon which Prophet saw replied, “Charity in the month of Ramadan”. [At-Tirmidhi]
On another occasion Prophet saw said, “The fasting is a shield against evil, the charity extinguishes (the fire of sin) just as water extinguishes fire,” [Ibn Majah]
Prophet saw was the most generous person and in the month of Ramadan he used to become more generous and would invest a lot in charity.
So, spend in charity as much as you can in this blessed month to multiply the reward.
I pray that may Allah(swt) help us to cleanse our hearts through this blessed month, worship Him in the best possible manner and get closer to Him. AMEEN!
