Sgt. Maj. Zoey Imel likes to climb mountains. Some of those mountains are actual physical achievements, and others represent the pursuit of goals and overcoming adversity. In 2024, a health issue forced her to re-assess her goals and challenged her in ways she never thought she’d have to consider. She is currently assigned to the Fort Carson Soldier Recovery Unit.

NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK (April 6-12, 2026):
For more than 150 years, Public Health services have dramatically transformed life expectancy and quality of life in the United States. Good Health Doesn’t Just Happen! Every day this week, we will highlight the Public Health mission and provide information about how to maintain and improve your health.

Your Health is Our Mission: The Fort Carson Department of Public Health wants you to take your mental health seriously. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, know your resources. Where is the closest Emergency Department? Have crises lines (988) posted in your workplace, home, and on your cell phone. Get to know your neighbors; social cohesion builds bonds that humans need. Get outside. Go to your neighborhood park; these activities support mental and physical well-being. The Carson Cares website has a consolidated list of resources on topics like mental health, relationships, finance, healthcare, and more. Check out the link below.
