Heartburn is truly miserable, especially when nothing you do helps!

I was did a diet recall with a new client to see if she was eating something that was making it worse.

She was eating some foods that were not helpful, but the main culprit was peppermints! For 4+ months she was eating 10-20 mints at work. These can trigger heartburn and she had no clue.

Thankfully after cutting them out for a week she had only 2 minor flair ups that resolved with a little medicine. WAY better than constant heartburn like she had a week prior.

As a functional medicine dietitian I love to do a deep dive and see what is the root of an issue is instead of just telling clients to take medicine or and cut out foods unnecessarily.

Once her body has time to heal she should be able to enjoy spicy foods and the occasional have mints again without heartburn.

Do you struggle with heartburn?

✨ From RSV to Snowshoeing: My Secret to Bouncing Back Faster ✨

Recently, I was battling RSV 🤒. I could barely breathe without coughing, had no energy 🛌, and needed days of complete rest to let my body recover. If this had been a few years ago, I would’ve been stuck in bed for weeks—but now, I know how to really care for my body. 💪

2 weeks later, I spent an entire morning snowshoeing in the mountains 🏔️—breathing in the crisp winter air ❄️ and moving my body slowly to care for my lungs. 🌬️ That same evening, I attended a networking event, full of energy and gratitude. 💼 It was a 15-hour day, and while I had to pace myself, I didn’t feel miserable or wiped out, praise God. 🙌🏼

How? By leaning into what I’ve learned about gut health and self-care. 🥗❤️

Years ago, I was frequently sick. 🤧 I didn’t realize how my daily choices were leaving my immune system so weak. But the more I heal my gut 🦠 and learn how to support my body through illness, the less often I get sick. 🎉 When I do, it’s usually something more than a common cold—and I bounce back faster with basic self-care and targeted supplements. ✨

If you’re tired of not knowing how to care for yourself when you do get sick, I created something just for you! 🎁 My Supporting Your Body When You Are Sick guide is packed with the tips and strategies I personally use to recover quickly and feel better, faster.

How I fought off what I thought was strep, but ended up being RSV 🤒

It started with a sore throat, and I thought I’d just slept with my mouth open. By the next morning, I had a fever, chills, and what felt like the start of strep throat. Turns out, it wasn’t—it was RSV, a respiratory virus that knocked me down for over a week. 😷

While being sick is never fun, I leaned into what I could control:
✨ Warm fluids like ginger turmeric tea to soothe my throat and stay hydrated.
✨ Simple, nourishing meals like soup to fuel my body even when I wasn’t hungry.
✨ Extra minerals and supplements to support my immune system.
✨ Rest, grace, and time with God to let my body fully recover.

Here’s the thing: the more I’ve healed my gut and cared for my body daily, the less often I get sick—and when I do, I recover so much faster. 🙌

Are you constantly getting sick or struggling to bounce back? Let’s change that. Comment or DM me “Resilience” if you want to learn how you can support your body and build resilience! 💚

Feeling tired, stressed, or just “off”? 💤😓 The reason might surprise you—it could be your minerals!

Think of minerals as the engine oil that keeps your body running smoothly. Every cell depends on them, and when they’re out of balance, you feel it: fatigue, stress, hormone issues, and more.

Here’s why 4 key minerals are essential:
✨ Sodium (Na): Steady energy + proper muscle function.
✨ Potassium (K): Balances fluids, supports your heart + nerves.
✨ Magnesium (Mg): Better sleep, stress relief, relaxation.
✨ Calcium (Ca): Strong bones, muscle + nerve support.

Your body can’t make minerals on its own, so it’s up to YOU to give it what it needs through diet or other sources.

Curious about what happens when these minerals are low and how to restore balance? Drop a 🥗 in the comments if you want tips on foods that boost your mineral levels!

She fell off the wagon in her goals because life is hard and it happens to all of us.

However, since we are working together I did not let her slide back into old habits, even if she tried to push me away.

We had a good conversation during her low and changed her goals before our next call to meet her where she was at.

After our call she started to turn things around and is getting back on course towards her goals.

During our routine call I asked her what she needed from me when she was struggling again.

She shared:

“As a coach your balance is really great of being kind, encouraging, and gentle, but also like we are not done. We are going to keep going and we are going to keep pushing and if we have to take a couple steps backwards to get more steps forward. I think you are really good at what you do.”

She was so kind to say this! While sharing her needs with me.

It was a reminder of the fact that I genuinely care for each of my clients and desire to be a support for them no matter where they are because that is what I believe everyone deserves!

Do you need someone who can support you in the good and bad times on the way to your goals?

From battling my own body to conquering my health journey! 💪

In 2014, I faced a whirlwind of symptoms that left me feeling lost and helpless. Anxiety, depression, fatigue – you name it. But it was my Hashimoto’s Hypothyroidism diagnosis that shed light on my struggle. My thyroid, the communicator of my body, was under siege by its own defense system. 💔

But here’s the plot twist: I refused to accept medication as my only solution. It took nearly a decade of resilience, but I’ve finally found my stride. ✨

My journey? A rollercoaster of ups and downs, but today, my Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies are down by 191 IU/mL in the last 6 months! 📉

It’s been a journey of healing my gut and prioritizing mineral intake. These changes have been my game-changers. And guess what? It’s working! 🤗 So here’s to ambitious women like you – never settling, always striving. Let’s rewrite our health stories together! 💖

High Protein High Fiber Oatmeal Recipe 🥣

To meet my personal needs I try and aim for an average of 40g per meal and 25g of fiber throughout the day.

While I was shopping I came across 100% peanut powder. 🤤 That is when I came up with the idea to make this high protein (40g) high fiber (14g) oatmeal.

It turned out really good, so I had to share! My friend even approved of it while she was visiting me!

Ingredients:
1/2c Oatmeal
2 scoops protein powder (I used Paleovalley Chocolate-13g/scoop)
2Tbs Ground Flax seed
2Tbs 100% pure peanut powder (or peanut butter)
1tsp vanilla
1/2c frozen fruit of choice (I tried berries and mango!)

Directions
1. Mix it all together and add in 1c water.
2. You can cook for about 4 minutes right away or put it into the fridge overnight and heat it for 3 minutes in the morning.
3. I like to add in the fruit after cooking it to help cool it down, but you can add it in while warming it up
4. Enjoy your nutritionally dense breakfast 🙂

What fruit will you add to top this oatmeal off?
