Our clinicians recently attended a training on money and the nervous system. We explored how our bodies respond to money. How the mother wound and father wound can quietly shape our beliefs about worth, safety, provision, power, and expansion.

At Root & Rise, we believe good therapy doesn’t stop at the therapy room door. It requires ongoing learning, self-reflection, and collective growth.

That’s why we gather as a team every single month for in-depth trainings where we explore topics like nervous system regulation, trauma-informed care, relational dynamics, ethics, business practices, and how we show up for our clients with integrity and humility.

Because the truth is: the more regulated, self-aware, and supported we are as clinicians, the safer and more attuned we can be for you.

These trainings aren’t just professional development. They’re part of our commitment to offering therapy that is thoughtful, embodied, and continually evolving.

When you work with a Root & Rise clinician, you’re working with someone who is actively learning, reflecting, and growing — alongside you.

Because it highlights longing. And longing is deeply human.

When you witness friends, coworkers, or family celebrating, it can amplify reminders of past relationships, breakups, grief, or the quiet ache of wanting something that hasn’t arrived yet.

Even when we understand logically that Valentine’s Day is largely shaped by marketing and consumer culture, it can still stir something real inside us.

Sometimes it’s not about the holiday at all. It’s about what it represents: partnership, chosen love, and being prioritized.

If you’re single and this weekend feels heavy, know that your feelings make sense.

At Root & Rise, we work with individuals to explore these types of feelings without shame. Whether you’re healing from a breakup, navigating divorce, feeling stuck in dating cycles, or wanting to build secure partnership skills before your next relationship, therapy can offer space to understand yourself more deeply.

You don’t have to wait until you’re partnered to do relational work.

Generation Z is growing up in a world that asks a lot of them. Academically. Socially. Emotionally.

Alongside constant comparison, online pressure, identity exploration, shifting friendships, and big emotions, many Gen Z teens and pre-teens are also carrying the weight of social disconnection and a lingering sense of uncertainty. All of this is unfolding while their nervous systems are still developing.

That’s a lot to carry.

Therapy offers a confidential, supportive space to talk about what’s actually going on without being judged, fixed, or lectured.

At Root & Rise, our work with teens and pre-teens is trauma-informed, collaborative, and paced to meet each young person where they are. We focus on emotional awareness, regulation skills, identity support, and helping teens build self-trust and confidence over time.

Whether your child is struggling outwardly or quietly holding things together, they don’t have to figure it out alone, and neither do you.

We accept most major insurance plans and offer free 15-minute consultations to help you explore whether we’re the right fit for your family. https://rootandrisecollective.org/

We’re deeply grateful when families trust us with something as tender as their child’s inner world 💚

This recent note from a parent reminds us why we do this work the way we do, slowly, thoughtfully, and with the whole family system in mind. Play therapy isn’t just about what happens in the room with a child; it’s about supporting caregivers, offering practical tools, and creating a space where kids feel safe enough to express what they can’t yet put into words.

At Root & Rise, we offer child, family, and individual therapy in Northern Colorado and online across Colorado. We accept most major insurance plans and offer free 15-minute consultations to help you explore whether we’re the right fit for your family.

Breakups don’t just end a relationship. They disrupt attachment, routine, and nervous system safety. There’s no universal clock for when grief, confusion, or sadness should stop showing up.

Even brief relationships can carry hope, emotional investment, and imagined futures. Even relationships that ended years ago can continue to shape our sense of safety in connection. Even when you feel relief, breakups can leave a lasting imprint.

The impact you feel isn’t measured by how long you were together, how relieved you are it’s over, or how long ago it was. If you’re still carrying confusion, grief, or emotional weight, therapy can help you make sense of it.

This might be a hot take, but we stand by it: avoidance is often learned protection, not lack of effort.

If you avoid conflict, emotions, or closeness, it’s likely not because you don’t care. It’s because at some point, protecting yourself felt safer than staying engaged. Over time, the nervous system learns: distance equals safety.

Avoidance can feel safer in the moment. But, it can lead to feeling disconnected even when you want closeness, to being misunderstood despite good intentions, to experiencing loneliness in relationships, and to uncertainty about how to ask for what you need.

If you notice these feelings showing up and you’re not sure what to do with them, therapy can be a space to get curious. Root & Rise offers therapy in Northern Colorado + online across Colorado. Most major insurance accepted. Book a free 15-minute consultation today. https://rootandrisecollective.org/

Children communicate through their bodies long before they can explain what they’re feeling. Big emotions, meltdowns, withdrawal, trouble at school, or sudden changes in behavior are often signs of overwhelm—not defiance or “bad behavior.”

At Root & Rise, child therapy is trauma-informed and developmentally attuned. We focus on helping children feel safe in their bodies, understand emotions, and build regulation skills in ways that match their age and nervous system.

We also work closely with caregivers, because children don’t heal in isolation. Supporting a child means supporting the environment around them.

If you’re wondering whether therapy is right for your child, reach out to schedule a free 15-minute consultation. Root & Rise offers child and family therapy in Northern Colorado and online across Colorado. We accept most major insurance.

Yes. Therapy isn’t about forcing reconciliation or convincing either partner to change their mind. It’s about creating a structured, supported space to explore what each of you is feeling, understand where you differ, and communicate honestly and respectfully.

At Root & Rise, both couples therapy and individual therapy can support this process. Couples counseling can help partners navigate uncertainty, clarify boundaries, and make intentional decisions. While individual therapy offers space to process your own emotions, values, and needs with clarity and self-trust. Whether the path forward involves rebuilding the relationship or separating with care, therapy supports understanding rather than pressure.

We offer couples counseling and individual therapy online throughout Colorado and in-person in Northern Colorado. Most major insurance accepted.
