The blood you donate to the Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) helps our medical treatment facilities stay ready to save lives in any emergency! Thank you for helping ensure our outstanding military medical professionals can operate on all cylinders, anytime and anywhere there is a need.

In the aftermath of an active shooter Aug. 6 at Fort Stewart’s 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, five Soldiers were left wounded, putting Winn Army Community Hospital’s critical health care response to the test.

A coordinated flow of information and patient movement guided every step of the incident response.

Thank you, Fort Gordon BOSS for organizing a great blood drive for the Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP)! Fort Gordon Command Sergeant Major Durette made time to donate, as did Soldiers, leaders, and BOSS representatives from all across the installation.

Since May 2005, World Blood Donor Day has been celebrated worldwide on June 14, Karl Landsteiner’s birthday. (Karl Landsteiner discovered the ABO human blood type system.)
