UnityFest was exactly what the name promised, pure community, connection, and joy!
From the music and laughter to the smell of BBQ on the grill, the energy at Esplanade Park was everything.
A huge thank you to our incredible sponsors and partners who showed up and showed love: & for providing free HIV testing and vital resources. and for keeping us hydrated. for the dope photo booth moments. — our amazing host who kept the crowd lit all day!
And to our local vendors serving food, grilling, and frying fish like an old-school backyard cookout you brought the soul to the festival. And of course all of our talent and attendees you were the heartbeat.
This is what Afro Pride is all about: celebrating culture, unity, and the power of the Black LGBTQ+ community.

Did you know?
PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a daily pill or long-acting injection that can reduce your risk of getting HIV by up to 99% when taken as prescribed.

It’s safe, effective, and confidential — and it’s made for our community.
But remember: while PrEP protects against HIV, it doesn’t prevent other STIs, so regular testing and open conversations about sexual health are still key.

At APU Health, we’re helping the Black LGBTQ+ community access care that’s affirming, informed, and easy to navigate, because protection and peace of mind should be within everyone’s reach.

At APU Health Navigation, our mission is simple but powerful:
to partner with underserved communities in navigating the health system, improving mental health outcomes, and preventing HIV, all while ensuring care that’s accessible, affirming, and culturally informed.

We believe everyone deserves care that understands where they come from and who they are.
That’s what it means to build health equity for us, by us.

Friday night was one for the books. The vibes, the energy, the unity, everything about the night reminded us why Black Prides United is more than just a weekend, it’s a movement.

From the Shades of Black Film Showcase to the Ultimate Fête, every moment was filled with art, laughter, and love for the culture.

Here’s a look back at how we celebrated creativity, community, and unapologetic joy, our way.

Community. Culture. Connection. This is what it’s all about.

For generations, our community has been told to be strong, to keep quiet, and to survive — even when we were hurting.
That silence became survival, but it also created distance, especially when it came to getting help. Because no one wants to go back to a place where we were mistreated.
Many of us learned not to trust systems that weren’t built for us. And that’s exactly why APU Health exists.
Our mission is to provide mental health, HIV prevention, and wellness care that’s made for us, by us with understanding, cultural competence, and compassion at the center.
Because healing hits different when you’re seen, respected, and cared for by people who truly get it.
It’s time to rewrite what care looks like in our community, together. Visit apuhealth.org to connect, get support, or get involved.

Today we had the honor of attending the Kickoff Meeting for the 2026 Florida AIDS Walk Beneficiaries — an inspiring gathering of organizations dedicated to advancing HIV prevention, care, and community support across Florida.

We’re proud to stand alongside so many passionate partners working toward one shared goal: a healthier, more empowered future for our community.

There are mental health conditions affecting our community every day. They don’t always look dramatic. Sometimes they look like overworking, perfectionism, exhaustion, or just “pushing through. But ignoring them doesn’t make them disappear, and awareness is the first step toward healing.
Here are a few that deserve more conversation in our community:
• Complex PTSD: The trauma that comes from long-term stress — from racism, rejection, or survival.
• High-Functioning Depression: When you show up, work hard, and smile, but feel empty inside.
• Minority Stress Disorder: The daily pressure of navigating bias, discrimination, and safety in your own skin.
• Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors: Nail-biting, hair-pulling, or skin-picking as a way to cope with stress.
• Persistent Depressive Disorder: When sadness feels like your “normal,” lasting for years without relief.
These struggles are real, and they show up differently for us.That’s why APU Health is committed to providing affirming, culturally informed mental health and wellness services for the Black LGBTQ+ community.
You’re not alone. You deserve support that sees you. Learn more or get connected at apuhealth.org
