A lot of people are surviving versions of themselves they had to create just to feel accepted.

Healing starts when you stop shrinking, stop apologizing for who you are, and start embracing your story, even the messy parts.

Your story deserves love too.

If this resonated with you, share it with someone who may need the reminder today. 🤍

Depression doesn’t always look like sadness.
Sometimes it looks like:
• isolating yourself
• being tired all the time
• losing interest in things you once loved
• surviving instead of living
• smiling while silently struggling
Too many people suffer in silence because they think they have to “push through it.”
Save this as a reminder that your mental health matters.
And share this with someone who may need it today. đź–¤

April is National Minority Health Month, an annual observance aimed at raising awareness about health disparities affecting racial and ethnic minority communities and promoting health equity. The month emphasizes education, early detection, and action to reduce the disproportionate burden of disease, premature death, and illness in these populations. Black Americans are the least likely to receive mental health services, not because we don’t need it, but because access and trust haven’t always been there.

It’s time to change that.

Follow APU for resources, support, and real conversations, and join our email list to stay connected.

Nobody prepares you for this part.

The uncomfortable appointments.
The looks.
The silence when you’re trying to explain yourself.

For a lot of people in our community, healthcare doesn’t feel safe.

And that’s a problem.

Because care should never come with anxiety attached.

That’s why we do what we do. Follow and join our email list.

Not just online. Not just during events.

Real community is built in real life, through connection, support, and showing up for each other.

That’s what Afro Pride stands for.

Where do you feel the most connected?

Let’s be real…

Microaggressions don’t always come loud.
Most of the time, they’re subtle.

A joke.
A comment.
An assumption.

But over time, they build up.

And they leave people feeling:
unseen
unheard
uncomfortable

That’s why this conversation matters.

Not just noticing it… but actually changing it.

What’s something small someone said that stuck with you?

Microaggressions don’t always come loud.
Sometimes they show up as “jokes,” assumptions, or backhanded compliments.

But over time, they add up.

They make people feel unseen.
Unheard.
Unwelcome.

And that’s the part people don’t talk about enough.

Awareness is the first step, but accountability is what creates real change.

Pay attention to what’s being said… and how it’s being received.

Have you ever experienced this?

Join our email list to learn about how we can provide you health options. ‎A lot of people think PrEP is “for certain people.”
That mindset is exactly why more people aren’t protected.
HIV doesn’t move based on labels. It moves based on exposure.
And the reality is, many people who could benefit from PrEP don’t even know it’s an option for them.
PrEP is about prevention, control, and peace of mind.
Not assumptions.
If you’ve ever questioned whether it’s for you, that’s your sign to get real information instead of guessing.
APU Health helps you figure that out without judgment, confusion, or barriers.
