Today, TROPIC AIR RESCUE had the privilege of participating in “Career Day” at Broadview Elementary School in North Lauderdale, Florida. It was a pleasure speaking with the children and explaining our organization's mission. The students asked numerous thoughtful questions, suggesting potential interest in careers as pilots and flight medics/nurses. The event was topped off with a fly by of the Tropic Air Rescue helicopter. We appreciate the North Lauderdale school district's support in allowing us to participate in this worthwhile event.

Eyewitness News Bahamas

BIMINI SHOOTING: Police in Bimini are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Saturday, 23rd May 2026, at a business establishment on King’s Highway, North Bimini, which left an eight-year-old boy seriously injured.

According to the initial report, shortly after 9:00 p.m., police received information from medical personnel at the Bimini Community Clinic that a young male child had been brought in with apparent gunshot wounds above the left eyebrow and to the left rear of the head. Police assistance was requested.

Officers responded to the clinic, where the attending physician advised that the child’s injuries were serious and arrangements were being made to airlift him for further medical treatment.

Shortly after 12:00 a.m., the child was airlifted from North Bimini to Fort Lauderdale for urgent medical care. His condition remains unknown at this time.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and his twelve-year-old brother were inside a hotel room when the incident occurred. The twelve-year-old was later handed over to the police by his uncle and was subsequently arrested and cautioned in connection with the matter.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear and remain under active investigation. As a result, a team of officers from Grand Bahama has been dispatched to assist with ongoing inquiries.
