August 2nd marks the birthday of James Baldwin, whose legacy reminds us of the profound and ongoing influence of the past on our present and future. Baldwin encourages us to engage thoughtfully with history—confronting uncomfortable truths, learning from past mistakes, and actively shaping a more just and equitable future. It’s vital to celebrate the richness of the African diaspora, Black culture, and the inspiring Black leaders shaping tomorrow—more often and with intention.

On June 19th, we proudly celebrated our Black and LGBTQIA+ communities at the Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center. This year marked our Third Annual Juneteenth Pride—a heartfelt occasion to honor resilience, diversity, and unity.

We were privileged to recognize this year's Honorees:
- Jasmine McKenzie — Justice Warrior Award
- LeNora Jaye — Unity in Diversity Award
- Thornell Jones Jr. — Unity in Community Award
- G Wright — Unity in Service Award

Let us always remember to celebrate the qualities that make us and others proud.

As James Baldwin once said, "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced."

A sincere thank you to everyone who supported, participated in, and attended our production.

Here are a few special moments captured with our Legacy Builders.

💫Visibility Matters✨

Our Third Annual Juneteenth Pride Celebration was a meaningful and impactful event. It's important to recognize and celebrate progress while also staying informed about ongoing challenges.

Thank you TIG's Community Engagement Liaison Na'Stacia Buchanan and Senior Program Consultant Manëësh for discussing the anti-trans bills targeting minors in the U.S. and the V. Skrmetti Supreme Court ruling, these are critical issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.

The legal landscape is constantly evolving, and such discussions help raise awareness and advocate for the rights and protections of trans youth.

On June 19th we celebrated Juneteenth in Hollywood. Thanks to Todd Delmay and Jeff Delmay for honoring the work of freedom that is both ongoing and urgent with us.

Your words reminded us of what freedom truly means and the importance of standing in solidarity with those still fighting for justice, equality, and recognition.

Together, we continue the journey toward a more just and equitable future.

Juneteenth stands as a profound daily reminder to honor Black American history, celebrate our vibrant culture, and intentionally uplift our ancestors. It challenges us to commemorate the greatness of those who paved the way, while actively creating new opportunities for future generations.

Our unwavering commitment is to pursue Black liberation—free from exploitation—and to foster healing spaces that speak for themselves, without need for explanation.

Leaving our Third Annual Juneteenth Pride Celebration, we felt energized and inspired to continue this vital work.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Legacy Award Presenters, Kamisha Green and Elimination. You both brought charisma and high spirits that truly made the celebration special.

Kamisha L. Green, a dedicated leader in community and DEIB efforts, serves as Co-Chair of the HRC South Florida Steering Committee and as a National DEIB Tri-Chair. Professionally, she’s a Senior Talent Acquisition Recruiter at Memorial Healthcare, tirelessly working to create equitable opportunities.

Elimination Onyx, a founding chapter member of Onyx Deep South—Leather and Kink Organization for Persons of Color—and the current American Leatherman 2025, continues to inspire as a leader forging pathways for Black LGBTQIA+ communities.
