We are thrilled to introduce Ciera Olvera, the Managing Director of Good Days Center and the heart behind our integrated, individualized life skills curriculum.

Ciera is a highly skilled Occupational Therapist with extensive experience supporting adolescents with autism and other developmental needs.

Her passion is helping young people build the practical, emotional, and social skills they need to move confidently toward independence.

At Good Days Center, Ciera will be leading the development of our customized life skills lesson plans, weaving together therapeutic insight, evidence-based practices, and real-world application. From daily routines and executive functioning to sensory regulation and community readiness, her approach ensures that every student receives the individualized support they deserve.

But beyond her clinical skillset, Ciera brings something even more important:
A deep belief in the abilities, strengths, and potential of every teen she works with.

As we prepare to open our doors, we are grateful to have a leader who embodies compassion, expertise, and a vision for what authentic independence can look like for each student.

Please join us in welcoming Ciera to the Good Days family — our future students are in exceptional hands.

We’re Hiring Compassionate Life Skills Trainers at Good Days Center!

Good Days Center is getting ready to open our doors in Fort Myers, and we’re building a team that feels like family.

We're looking for Life Skills Programs Trainers who have a heart for helping adolescents with autism and other developmental needs grow, thrive, and discover their independence.

If you’ve worked in education, caregiving, ABA, therapy support, life-skills coaching, or similar fields — that’s a bonus. But experience is not required. What matters most is your character: patience, kindness, reliability, and a genuine desire to support our kids as they learn the skills they need for everyday life.

All applicants must be able to pass the required Florida Level 2 background screening (FDLE + FBI) and a drug screening, as part of ensuring a safe and supportive environment for our "Good Dayers". Starting pay is $20/hour and the hours are 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM, M-F.

If you’re looking for meaningful work — the kind of work that fills your heart and lets you make a real impact — we’d love to meet you.

For many families of autistic adolescents, the biggest question isn’t about today — it’s about tomorrow.

“What will adulthood look like for my child?”

“How can we prepare now for greater independence later?”

These are real, valid concerns shared by parents everywhere.

The good news:
Research shows that skills developed during the teen years have the strongest long-term impact on adult independence. Transition planning is not a single event — it’s a gradual, supported process.

Here are three meaningful ways families can support the transition into adulthood now:

1. Build Real-World Routines
Laundry, simple meal prep, cleaning, time management — practicing these early and consistently builds confidence that carries into adult life. Routine forms the foundation of independence.

2. Encourage Self-Advocacy in Small Steps
This can be as simple as encouraging your teen to place their own order at a restaurant, speak up about a preference, or choose between two tasks. Every act of self-expression is a building block for adulthood.

3. Create Exposure to Community Settings
Grocery stores, coffee shops, community centers, gyms — these environments teach social norms, safety, communication, and functional problem-solving. Exposure today reduces fear tomorrow.

At Good Days Center, our mission is to support adolescents as they move toward adulthood with practical life skills, confidence, and dignity. As we prepare to open, we’re committed to helping families start this journey now.

The road to adulthood begins long before 18 — and every good day makes a difference.

We know small sensory changes at home can make a big difference for your child’s calm and independence.

Try dimming overhead lights or swapping harsh bulbs for warm lamps, creating a low-noise corner with soft textiles and whisper-quiet toys, and offering a few calming textures for self-soothing.

These simple tweaks mirror strategies we use at our Fort Myers center and can lead to fewer meltdowns and longer independent task time. Ready to try a calm corner at home?

We’re sharing a compact demo you can try at home this week:

1) Meal prep basics — teach safe chopping and simple recipes to boost independence.

2) Laundry steps — sorting, washing, folding for safer routines.

3) Money-handling — counting, budgeting, and making change to build confidence. Our year‑round, integrated and individualized life skills program in Fort Myers helps neurodivergent adolescents progress these skills safely and with dignity.
