Our early experiences shape us in profound ways, especially how we cope with stress as adults. How your parents regulated your nervous system during childhood can influence your responses to stress and recovery today. Understanding these patterns is key to healing and finding healthier coping mechanisms. At Serenity Co-op, we believe in exploring our past to empower our present. Let’s learn together how to nurture our nervous systems and build resilience in a supportive community. 💜

Liberation mental health challenges the systems that pathologize our struggles and marginalize our communities. It’s about recognizing how racism, sexism, ableism, and oppression impact our mental health—and finding ways to heal that honor our full humanity. At Serenity Co-op, we embrace community care, non-western practices, and a holistic approach to well-being that addresses the real issues we face. Liberation mental health isn’t just about treatment; it’s about freedom from systems that harm us. Together, we can build a world where mental health care is truly liberating. 💜

Collective grief touches us all, whether from personal loss or shared trauma. Healing from that grief is not an individual journey—it’s a collective process. At Serenity Co-op, we create spaces for community healing, where we can hold each other’s pain and lift each other up. Together, we embrace our emotions, support each other, and move toward wholeness. Healing is possible when we stand together. 💜

“At Serenity Co-op, we’re all about being real. We’re not here to preach perfection or to tell you to ‘just think positive.’ We believe in showing up as we are—angry, frustrated, burnt out, and human. This space is for people who know it’s okay to feel deeply, cuss sometimes, and still be working through life’s mess. If you’re here for authentic, raw community support, you’re in the right place. 💜

Marginalized communities often face the greatest struggles during times of crisis, from lack of access to resources to systemic barriers that make recovery harder. Whether it’s a public health emergency, natural disaster, or economic downturn, these challenges hit harder for those already on the margins. At Serenity Co-op, we believe in coming together to support one another, lifting each other up, and ensuring no one is left behind. Let’s build a community where every person has the tools and care they need to heal and thrive, no matter the crisis.

🌀 During crises, marginalized communities face not only the physical impacts of disasters but also the weight of victim-blaming. 🌀

When hurricanes, wildfires, or other emergencies strike, BIPOC, disabled individuals, the elderly, rural communities, people with chronic illnesses, and those facing poverty often bear the brunt of the impact. Yet, instead of receiving compassion and support, they are frequently blamed for their struggles.

It’s time to break the cycle of victim-blaming and recognize the systemic barriers that make these communities more vulnerable in the first place. By understanding the roots of these challenges, we can work together to build a more equitable and supportive response to disasters. 🌍💚
