I would never recommend Tallow to my clients, as I know it's unhealthy for their skin long-term. It's super high in oleic acid and wrecks the skin by destroying the calcium gradient, allowing an overload of calcium into cells and causing cell death. Then, we see a big increase in TEWL, sensitivity, and inflammation. Using single lipids on the skin stops the skin barrier from recovering by increasing TEWL. Our skin needs more than one type of lipid to remain healthy (Fatty Acids, Ceramides & Cholesterol). Lipids, naturally occurring fats, play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of your skin barrier.
