In Bloom: Equity & Access for Happier Periods

In Bloom: Equity & Access for Happier Periods We are only in bloom for a season. Let's eradicate period poverty in Fort Pierce, Florida. No woman should be ashamed of her body.

The menstrual product market is a multimillion dollar industry that prioritizes profits over people with periods. Over half of the planet menstruates, yet many low-income women and girls are left without access. No woman should have to miss work and no girl should have to miss school for lack of having a menstrual product and fear of bleeding through clothes. Menstruation, an involuntary bodily process, should not be traumatic or a burden. Menstrual products should be free and widely accessible. It is not a luxury, but a human right. Women and girls have a right to a safe menstrual cycle while retaining their dignity and respect. This is why I founded In Bloom: Equity & Access for Happier Periods, a nonprofit organization that promotes menstrual health and hygiene through education and seeks to eradicate period poverty by providing menstrual products free of charge to low-income women and girls in Fort Pierce, Florida. If you are ever in need of menstrual products, feel free to message or email me.

Menstruation is one of the most natural functions in the world. It is a mark of femininity and fertility, which is essential for human existence. Yet, 42% of women have experienced period-shaming, by friends and even family. The culture surrounding periods must be changed, and it’ll take both men and women to make that happen.
Let’s freely speak on menstruation, smash the age-old taboos, remove the shame and create communities of support.
