Postpartum depression affects 10% of women. Postpartum depression can take place at anytime usually within a year after childbirth, and can make seemingly simple tasks difficult even taking care of your new born. It can leave you feeling hopeless, and helpless. Just remember you are not alone! Don't be ashamed to call for help.

She shouldn't have to renegotiate her birth plan, argue with her care providers about the evidence supporting her decisions, or advocate for her baby. I am a Birth Doula serving the Fort Stockton, Alpine, And the Midland/Odessa area. A Doula is a support person that is there for you throughout your pregnancy, labor/birth, and postpartum experiences. I believe that natural birth truly can make the best birth experience for you and your baby.
My goal with Prospering Heritage Doula Services is to give women the opportunity to love their birth experience and story. Having a Birth Doula doesn't mean you have to have a home birth. I understand that sometimes natural birth doesn't work out, as complications do arise having your baby in the hospital might be the best option for you or a cesareans might be a necessity. However this doesn't mean my help ends there, I will be right there with you supporting you in the delivery room wherever that might be. You need to feel comfortable and at peace when giving birth, and that means being in the environment you choose. My job is to make sure your voice is heard and your baby gets the best welcome to the world.
