Welcome new member, Shelley Snapp!
"I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PA, NJ) with a background working with a diverse population of individuals and families, from community based mental health to private practice, with 10+ years. During this time I’ve come to learn that trauma, tragedy, and hardship can come knocking on anyone's door, no matter who you are or where you come from. Through my work I’ve had the privilege of seeing the resilience, strength, and recovery that can come out of such hardships.
I typically use an eclectic approach to therapy, combining CBT techniques, motivational interviewing techniques, and family systems theories. I have a certification in Prolonged Exposure therapy, an evidence based treatment for PTSD. My work is also informed by cultural competency and trauma informed perspectives. It is important to me to understand the greater ecosystems, such as family, work, school, friends, and interests, that have influenced your experiences as a human being. I believe I’m the best fit for clients who are struggling with diagnoses such as anxiety and PTSD, and clients looking to focus on topics such as perfectionism, self-esteem, self-care, boundary setting, family/ relationship conflict, navigating life transitions and major life events.
Additionally, I am an AAMFT Approved Supervisor Candidate with availability to take on new supervisees who are working towards licensure!"
