🌟 Fort Worth Gym Tour — Coach’s Honest Take 💪🏽

As part of my own wellness journey (and for all my clients asking which gyms are actually worth it), I’ve been testing out different spots around Fort Worth.

Here’s the real talk from your barefooted health & wellness coach 👣👇

🔥 Absolute Recomp - Fort Worth

If you’re serious about lifting, this place is a dream.
It’s spotless, loaded with equipment, and has dumbbells that go all the way up to 300 lbs 😳 — rare even for hardcore gyms.

💪 You’ll never wait for a machine.
🍗 Microwaves for meal prep.
🥤 Supplements and protein stocked on-site.
💻 A quiet work area with tables and chairs — perfect if you work remotely, have schoolwork, or just need to catch up on emails.
🚿 Beautiful showers + a sauna for recovery.
🪞 Bonus: There’s even a posing room for competitors or anyone tracking physique progress — huge win for bodybuilders and transformation journeys alike.

⚠️ Downside: It’s LOUD. Between the music and all the tripods, it’s not exactly zen — but the energy is unmatched.

💪🏽 Fitness Connection
Big, bright, and packed with options.
✅ Tons of equipment
✅ Women’s-only area (though it’s usually packed)
✅ Awesome childcare — basketball court, movie theater, tablet corner, and coloring tables
✅ Sauna

A great balance for busy parents who still want serious training time.

🏋🏽‍♀️ Powerhouse Gym Texas
Feels like a massive home garage gym — no fluff, no fancy lighting, just people focused on their grind.
⚠️ Downside: Classes cost extra, so keep that in mind if you love group sessions.

🏠 Ryan Family YMCA & Benbrook YMCA
Still one of the most family-friendly gyms in Fort Worth.
Clean, safe, and full of community spirit.
⚠️ Downside: Always crowded during peak hours, so plan your workouts strategically.

⚡️ Amped Fitness
Wanted to love it, but the parking lot told another story.
Trash scattered around and a homeless man sleeping nearby made me hesitant to get out of my car. Hoping they clean it up soon — first impressions matter.

🏗 Crunch Fitness
Still under construction but opening in December 👀
Curious to see what kind of vibe and community they’ll bring!

Every gym carries its own energy — some fuel your fire, others calm your mind.
The key is finding one that fits you.

It’s officially Friday!!! I want to get the weekend started off right by sharing some gratitude..

I am so grateful for the genuine connections in my life that bring out the best in me. True friendships and relationships are built on mutual respect, laughter, and a commitment to growth. 🌱 It’s amazing how much happiness and peace they bring!

I’m constantly inspired by the love and loyalty of those closest to me, and it’s a reminder that healthy relationships are the foundation for a joyful, fulfilling life. Whether it’s friends who feel like family or someone special, I’m thankful for the shared journeys, the support, and the memories.

Here’s to growing together, cheering each other on, and building something beautiful with people who see the best in each other. 💕

You may not see the beauty as you approach it, but it’s there.

This peach tree has cycled through many seasons. Just a few days ago, there wasn’t a single bud on this tree. The beauty is starting to show now, just days later. Undoubtedly, it will blossom, fruit will appear. The butterflies will come and it will be full of life and appear much more vibrant. Yet when the season ends and the next rolls around, it will lose its flowers, it’s fruit abs it’s flowers. It will look sad and ominous, but the beauty will come back. This cycle will continue until the tree dies. It’s energy will then take on a different form.

The journey is beautiful.

I am still a working progress. I will ALWAYS be a working progress. I have seasons of beauty and seasons of despair. I am proud to be on this journey and I’m proud to be focused on myself.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:” Ecclesiastes 3:1

I was reading an article today about 10 daily habits of genuinely happy people. (You can check it out here: https://medium.com/mind-cafe/10-daily-habits-of-truly-happy-people-9efd3d8bd2eb.)

I want to put an emphasis on the following habits as they’ve propelled me in my own journey:
- Focus on what you’re good at. Acknowledge weaknesses and if they aren’t truly holding you back, continue to invest your energy in the strengths that advance your further instead.

- Know that it is okay not to be okay, but stay positive and make the best of the situation.

- Embrace the growth mindset and continue to foster it oppose to getting stuck in a fixed mindset.

- Focus on what you can control and keep in mind you are not responsible nor can you truly control someone else’s thoughts, behaviors, or actions.

I am not strong in my own right, but God has fortified me through my pain. He is my strength. The last few years have been my childhood nightmare turned reality. I lived years of “not-okay”… the unmanageable, depressing kind. I accepted that I was a horrible person and deserving of every terrible thing that happened in my life because of my upbringing and past. I had severe anxiety that I would lose the man I love and the family that we built together. Someone referred me to a 12-Step program and I attended a few different ones. It was an uncomfortable start, but it was exactly what I needed. It wasn’t the spark for my life change, that was my love for my husband and my desire to change for our family, but it helped me become self-aware and get out of the fixed mindset. The thing I feared the most is what came to be, but I am happier from it. I am transformed out of it. Lives were saved because of it.

I am so grateful that God has made me new. I am thriving in Christ and doing my best to live according to His will for my life, whatever that may look like.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

What is your favorite of the 10 habits? How do you feel that you’ve changed over the past few years? Do you feel as if you have been made new?

It is Giving Tuesday!

It seems appropriate that Giving Tuesday follows Thanksgiving (plus Black Friday and Cyber Monday). It welcomes the wonderful month of December and allows us to shift focus from giving thanks for all that we have to sharing and giving to those in need.

There are many people in our own cities that need help. I personally know folks who struggle and who have been taken advantage of and have significant needs that are considered basic human rights. Many have been forgotten or disregarded by society.

I am by no means “well-off”, nor have I ever been, but I give when I can and how I can. Sometimes that just means treating people who suffer from homelessness with respect and conversing as equals..

We are part of a bigger community and a bigger purpose.

So, if you have a home church or know of a local mission, reach out and find where the need is and give generously. Whether that is a monetary need or volunteering your time by serving others. Or perhaps it is donating unused blankets and clothing. We don’t have to live lavishly to live.

Bible Verse:
“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35

Healing doesn’t come easy.

When a person talks about something negative from the past, whatever the time passed, is that person speaking from personal awareness and using the conversation to navigate his or her own healing? Or is that person talking about someone else and using the conversation to manipulate feelings, opinions, and situations with others?

We all are broken. We all have our scars (and even open wounds). Hearing people talk about something that you did in your past does not define who you are now or what God intends for your future. Let them talk and stay in the toxicity if they choose to, but you do not have to choose to stay there with them. Give yourself permission to heal.

It can be painful to hear one version of the story in which you may feel compelled to defend or be pulled back into the anxiety, embarrassment, sadness and hurt. Any of those emotions may surface as anger. BREATHE. It is okay to feel that moment. It is okay to take it in. Acknowledge your own emotions and physical reactions to the stress. Acknowledge, then let it pass and let yourself heal.

I know I have say this repetitively in personal consults and in daily conversations, DO NOT GET STUCK.

In my own healing journey, I have had to hear versions of stories (about me) retold from a person who heard it from a person who heard it from a person and a situation that the storyteller was not present for. Typically, that perspective doesn’t even remotely touch on the multiple contributing factors such as childhood traumas, narcissism and gaslighting, physical, emotional, and mental abuse or underlying illnesses from either or both contributing parties, significant dates/times and places, etc.

Only God knows your heart and the interweaving details from every past and present contributing factor and fears for the future. It is so wonderful that God chooses to love us regardless and with His love, He heals our wounds.

The ONE condition is that we ACCEPT God’s healing.

“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord, ‘because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.’” Jeremiah‬ ‭30:17‬ ‭(NIV‬‬)
