How does carbon dioxide (Co2) affect blood vessels?

Hypercapnia (retention of Co2) will cause blood vessels to dilate.

Hypocapnia (low Co2) will cause blood vessels to constrict.

Why is this important?
Over ventilating a patient with a brain injury = decreased Co2 = vasoconstriction.

What can we do?
Set up end tidal on patients and monitor closely!

Officially got back last night from Honduras💕

Volunteering at Clinica Esperanza was one of the best experiences i have had in my nursing career! The things Clinica Esperanza does for the island of Roatan is truly amazing. Going out to the community with them to do pediatric clinic set ups to track vitals and give supplies was amazing and so grateful i was able to be apart of it. My now Fiancé (😍😍) got to tag along a day! I also got to hold so many babies this week 🥰

Thank you again for everyone who donated, they were so appreciative 💕
