Sometimes we move through life so fast that we forget to pause and ask ourselves… “How am I really doing?”

This is your reminder to slow down and check in with YOU. Not the roles you play. Not the expectations placed on you. “You”

Are your needs being met?
Are you holding onto too much?
Have you taken a moment to breathe, reset, and just be?

Your mental health deserves your attention, your care, and your compassion, every single day.

Happiness isn’t what most people think it is.

It’s not waking up every day feeling good.
It’s not having everything go your way.
And it’s definitely not perfection.

Happiness is deeper than that.

It’s being able to sit with yourself on the hard days and still feel whole.
It’s choosing alignment over approval.
It’s honoring who you are, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Examples include:
• Depression
• Anxiety disorders
• PTSD
• Bipolar disorder
• Schizophrenia
• Eating disorders

Mental illness:
• Meets specific diagnostic criteria
• Often requires clinical treatment (therapy, medication, or both)
• Can be temporary, episodic, or long-term
• Is not a character flaw or weakness

A person can live a full, meaningful life with mental illness—especially with proper care.

Remember: Mental illness can impact your mental health, but it does not define your worth or your ability to live well.

Complex PTSD doesn’t just live in the past — it lives in the nervous system.

It shapes thoughts, emotions, relationships, and the way the brain learns to survive.

Hypervigilance, emotional dysregulation, shame, trust issues, and distorted core beliefs aren’t “character flaws.”

They are adaptations to prolonged trauma.
Healing begins when we stop asking “What’s wrong with me?”

and start asking “What happened to me — and how do I rewire safety?”

Awareness is the first step. Compassion is the second.

Had a reflective moment to myself and this came to mind…

No matter how much support you offer, people remain individuals with the right to make their own choices; you are never the sole influence in someone’s life.

It’s interesting how grief, hurt or longing pulls your mind toward certain memories, very different from the thoughts that surface when you’re in peace, happy, grounded, or thriving.

Your lens has a lot to do with what you see. Life is only miserable when you aren’t living or haven’t lived…❤️

I’m still smiling as I write this 😌✨
“Dr.Myers”

Celebrating a 4.0 GPA and receiving my final grade in Psychopharmacology with a 99.2 feels absolutely surreal.

I earned a 250 out of 250 on my psychopharmacological case conceptualization paper, and I couldn’t be more ecstatic about the outcome.

This class challenged me academically, mentally, and emotionally but it also reminded me just how far I’ve come and how capable I am.

More importantly, it strengthened my understanding of psychotropic medication within mental health care and reinforced my commitment to showing up for my clients in a way that does not default to medication as a one-size-fits-all solution, but instead honors the full complexity of their experiences.

To see the work, late nights, discipline, and resilience reflected in these results is incredibly affirming.

I’m now in my internship portion of my degree, where making a difference as a clinician show up.

It’s where knowledge meets practice, theory meets humanity, and where becoming a well-rounded, holistic clinician really takes shape. I’m grateful for the growth, the supervision, the real-world experience, and the responsibility that comes with this stage.

I’m filled with pride, gratitude, and excitement for what’s ahead. This chapter has required sacrifice, balance, and faith and today I’m allowing myself to celebrate the win.

Hard work shows up. Consistency pays off. Growth is happening in real time.
