We like to practice mindfulness in nature, and there is a reason why we have integrated our mindfulness programming in with a shared wilderness experience. Many of the things we accomplish in the wilderness (shared experience, movement meditation, wild awe) provides the calm, intuition, and clarity that we need in order to create space for personal growth, a present mind, connection to self and others, and so many more restorative benefits that mindfulness can have. Without wilderness, it can a bit harder to calm the mind, with the distractions of daily life having such a heavy hold us sometimes. Wilderness provides a break from all of that.

Let’s talk about the weather🌧️✨ On our last retreat into New Hampshire’s White Mountains we experienced quite a bit of inclement conditions. We saw rain, wind, cold temps, and sometimes all 3 at once! But what we also saw, was an opportunity to practice mindfulness, equanimity, and replacing reactions with responses. We want to share with you this RAIN acronym that can help turn an otherwise stressful and upsetting bout of weather, into a chance to grown, learn, and be present😊✨🌧️
🌲R - Recognize Patterns
🌲A - Acceptance
🌲I - Investigate
🌲N - Non-attachment to feelings, emotions and thoughts.

Why did we choose AMC huts to be our main source of lodging and food during our retreats? Well, the AMC certainly has a lot to offer being the oldest outdoor group in the United States and being that their mission is to foster protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the outdoors. But for us, it really comes down to accessibility and our mission of providing transformative experiences to as many people as possible. We decided that not having to pack group gear, tents, cooking equipment, and food up the mountain would be game changing for some. We hope it will be easier for folks to commit to a shared wilderness adventure where food, a warm bed, and a MUCH lighter pack will be provided. And this way, we can spend more time focusing on the other facets of our mission, the building of mindfulness practices, connection to self and to the retreat community, and letting the awe of nature work it’s magic✨. There are all kinds of nature retreats, wilderness expeditions, and shared outdoor experiences that you can sign up for these days, and they all have their own way of bringing together a positive experience. But this is how WE do it, and we hope you absolutely love it ✨😊🌲
