Today is Memorial Day. This is intended as a somber day to honor the brave soldiers and sailors who died for our country. Today, I'd like to also think about veterans who have died of opioid overdose. Veterans' valor is lifelong and some veterans struggle mightily after they come home. Some become addicted, perhaps secondary to injuries while serving, and some die of opioid overdose. Let's take a moment to honor our fallen heroes.
