Melissa Mooney-Lopez AKA Mel
Yoga Teacher, Wellness Guide, Mother & Wife

Melissa began practicing yoga over a decade ago. Yoga’s ability to heal became abundantly clear to Melissa after years of living with the painful effects of multiple sports related injuries. She found yoga to be the only therapy to give her true physical and mental relief. It became obvious her path was to share this message with the world. She became a full-time Bikram teacher in 2009. Since her Bikram Yoga training she has continued her education, getting certified in Restorative Yoga, Synergy Partner Yoga, Kids Yoga and Pre/Postnatal Yoga. Off the Mat Melissa strives to blend yoga principals into all aspects of her life. Melissa founded Let’s Balance Your Body a health and wellness brand that is dedicated to spreading the message of inspiration and wellness through social media, yoga events, transformational workshops and retreats. She has a true zest for life and is always seeking new ways to incorporate alternative approaches into her practice and teaching.

❄️Announcement -Honoring the Pace - https://mailchi.mp/b8ce40265dcf/vision-board-announcement-honoring-the-paceAs I look out the window and write to you today we’re sitting on the edge of a winter storm- The kind of weather that naturally slows things down, asks us to stay put, and reminds us that not everything is meant to move forward on schedule. And it feels important to name this — because it mirrors something deeper that’s been unfolding- Due To Inclement Weather the Vision Board Workshop is postponed - New date TBD Your ticket will automatically roll over

Let Your Word Find You- This week isn’t about choosing faster — it’s about listening deeper.
A word doesn’t need to be forced.
Sometimes it finds you when you slow down enough to hear it.
I’m sharing a few reflections and journal prompts in today’s newsletter for anyone who wants to explore a word to walk with them this year.
No rush.
No pressure.
Just curiosity and care.

Happy New Year - Today We Begin Where We Are 1/1 🤍
Today isn’t about fixing, forcing, or figuring everything out.
It’s about beginning where you are.
After all the shedding, reflecting, and closing of the year, this day asks for something softer — integration, presence, and care.
No rush.
No pressure.
Just a gentle start.
May this year meet you with steadiness, nourishment, and support — one intentional step at a time.

Holding the Dark, Trusting the Light - A Solstice reminder 🌑✨
Today marks the Winter Solstice — the longest night of the year and the quiet turning back toward the light. A reminder that rest is not weakness, stillness is not stagnation, and renewal doesn’t rush.
✨ May this Solstice offer you permission to rest, release, and trust the timing of your own becoming.
Tonight’s Solstice ritual: DIY floating sky candles — a favorite tradition, with the recipe shared in the book- https://mailchi.mp/76b9a82c797a/holding-the-dark-trusting-the-light-a-solstice-reminder

If you find yourself feeling stressed in the kitchen today, overwhelmed by hosting, or worried about getting it all “right,”
come back to this.
The heart of the holiday isn’t perfection.
It’s connection.
It’s laughing while the gravy splashes, passing plates across crowded tables, sharing stories that make you cry and then laugh again.
No one will remember if the turkey was a little dry…
They’ll remember who they sat next to.
They’ll remember your warmth.
They’ll remember how it felt to be welcomed in your home.
So cook with love.
Serve with heart.
Let gratitude be the seasoning that ties everything together.
And if something burns, falls apart, or never makes it to the table?
It’s okay.
They’re not there for the food —
They’re there for you.

If this year is complicated, or marked by absence — I hope you still find a soft corner of peace to rest in.

Not every holiday is spent in the kitchen, or around a crowded table. Some years are travel years, healing years, navigating-family years… and those count too.
All my love,
Mel 🤍
