This is what “Hero Training™ ” really means.

Not just learning techniques…

But being placed in environments where excellence is normal.

This weekend in Maryland, our team had the incredible privilege of stepping onto the mat with Kyoshi Roger Dabney.

When you look at the photo, you’re seeing more than just a group shot, you’re seeing our students standing shoulder-to-shoulder with a 50-year legacy of mastery.

Kyoshi Roger is a “Producer of Champions.”

In life, results speak louder than words.

Kyoshi doesn’t just teach; he builds humans who perform at the highest levels:

😳 World-Ranked Professional: A former Top 10 world-ranked professional kickboxer.

😲 The Architect of Success: He has produced 23 Championship Titles, 4 National Titles, and a World Champion.

🙏 Resilience Expert: A published author on helping kids use martial arts to overcome real-world adversity.

The Impact of an Hour

Why did we drive 1,000 miles to spend time with a humans like this?

Because when an 11-year-old stands on a mat with a world-class producer of champions, their "ceiling" disappears.

Even in just one hour of training, our students got to see that excellence isn't a far-off idea, it’s a disciplined, daily reality.

We don't want our students to just "try their best."

We want them to see what the Standard actually looks like in person, so they can start bringing that same intensity back to our mats in New Hampshire.

I am incredibly grateful to Kyoshi Roger for his generosity and for the way he welcomed our crew into his training environment.

It’s an experience these kids won’t soon forget.

Gumagalang magmula sa puso.
(With respect from the heart) 🙏

Parents - if you’re interested in the martial arts side of Hero Training, this is worth the read.

Most kids are learning from an echo.
Ours learn from the Source.

You’ve played the telephone game before.

One message starts clear…
then gets passed from person to person…

And by the end, it barely resembles what it was supposed to be.

That’s what happens in a lot of training.

Movements get copied.
Details get missed.
Standards slowly drop…

The reason behind the movement gets lost, replaced by appearance - and the substance fades.

Until it looks right...but it’s no longer the real thing.

At The PowerfulKids Training Grounds, we don’t train from an echo.

We go straight to the Source,we’re proud to be part of a martial arts community that values growth.

That’s why we travel and seek out the best - so your kids can experience that level of training right here in New Hampshire.

Tuhon Apolo Ladra: The Architect of Modern Flow

Tuhon Apolo Ladra is a world-renowned master of the Filipino Martial Arts and the visionary founder of Indigenous Kali (iKali). With a career spanning decades, he has become one of the most sought-after tactical and technical instructors in the world.

A Legacy of Elite Performance

Tuhon Apolo doesn’t just teach martial arts; he teaches survival and excellence at the highest levels of human performance. His expertise is trusted by the world’s most elite operators, including:
• The United States Marines
• The Filipino Military & Special Forces
• Law Enforcement Agencies Worldwide

Beyond his work with the military, Tuhon Apolo is an undefeated full-contact stick fighting champion, proving his “Flow” systems under the highest stakes possible.

Why does this matter for PowerfulKids?

At The PowerfulKids Training Grounds, we actively seek out the best of the best…

Because your kids deserve to see what excellence actually looks like.

To feel it.
To train around it.
To understand it’s not out of reach.

This is what we mean by Hero Training.

Not just teaching kids to say “Yes I Can”…

But putting them in environments that show them it’s real.

That the best is something you pursue.
Something you step into.
Something you grow into.

And over time…

“Yes I Can” stops being something they say…

and becomes something they live.

This weekend we’re in Maryland training with Tuhon Apolo Ladra, founder of Indigenous Kali. Yesterday we completed a 5 hour block which I'll share a bit more about later but for now..

Who is Tuhan Apolo Ladra? He's the founder of Indigenous Kali or IKali, the way of the blade.

He is responsible for training elite forces like the United States Marines, the Filipino military, law enforcement and is undefeated full-contact stick fighting champion of the world

Very few people ever get to learn from someone operating at that level… in person, with him directly.

That kind of environment does something to you. Not just skill…
but for presence, focus and discipline.

This is what we search out. Because at The PowerfulKids Training Grounds, we’re not just teaching “karate”

We’re building kids who understand that excellence is something you pursue.

You don’t wait for it or hope for it.
You go find it.

And that’s what your child is stepping into.

Not just better training… A higher standard of who they become.

Because one day, they won’t just admire excellence…

they’ll expect it from themselves.

If only raising a child worked like a drive-thru menu.

Pull up.

Look at the board.

“Give me the #7.”

Confident child.

Strong character.

Leader.

Resilient under pressure.

Happy future.

One number.

One order.

Easy.

But every parent knows…

That’s not how life works.

There is no combo meal for confidence.

No #4 for discipline.

No #8 for courage.

No button you press and your child comes out focused, kind, emotionally strong, and able to handle pressure.

If only it were that simple.

Because in life…

You don’t order a confident child.

You help build one.

Piece by piece.

Moment by moment.

Challenge by challenge.

Confidence isn’t a combo meal.

It’s practiced.

Discipline isn’t handed through a window.

It’s trained.

Resilience doesn’t come with fries.

It’s developed in struggle.

Character doesn’t arrive in a bag.

It’s forged over time.

And that’s where many parents get misled.

They hope for outcomes…

without realizing those outcomes come from ingredients.

At a drive-thru, one number includes everything.

In childhood development…

there is no single number.

You have to choose the ingredients.

Belief.

Focus.

Courage.

Responsibility.

Emotional control.

Healthy struggle.

Leadership.

Repetition.

Support.

Mentorship.

Those are the ingredients of a powerful life.

And when you put those together consistently…

you don’t get a combo meal.

You get a child becoming extraordinary.

That’s why we don’t think of Mastery as an activity.

We think of it as a place where those ingredients get trained.

Because your child’s future isn’t something you order at a speaker.

It’s something you help prepare.

The question is not… “What number do you want for your child?”

It’s…

What ingredients are you helping build into them now so they can create a great life later?

Because life has no #7 combo for confidence.

But there is a path to build it.

And that changes everything.

No drive-thru can hand your child a great future.

But daily training can help them create one.

Start with Mastery:

She walks into her classroom the same way she walks into The PowerfulKids Training Grounds™.

Ready.

Her teacher shared:

“Alana is a sweet girl who loves to learn.”

That love for learning?

We see it too, every single week.

Not just at the Training Grounds.

In the classroom.
At home.
In how she shows up.

Because kids aren’t just shaped by what they’re taught…

They’re shaped by the environment they grow in.

And when that environment challenges them, supports them, and believes in them?

They rise.

🛡️ That’s what we’re building.

We’re Raising Kids to Avoid the Struggle... Then Wondering Why They Can’t Handle It.

It’s not because we don’t care. It’s actually the opposite, we care so much it hurts!

We see them frustrated, we see the tears starting to well up, and our first instinct is to swoop in.

We smooth the path. We step in a second too early. We "fix" the problem so they don’t have to feel the sting of it.

It feels like love in the moment. But if a child never learns how to sit with discomfort when the stakes are low, like a hard moment or a messy room, they’re going to have to learn it later.

Unfortunately "later" usually means when the stakes are much higher and we aren't there to catch them.

Kids should absolutely be kids. But a huge part of childhood is supposed to be about finding out where your limit is, and then pushing past it.

Real confidence isn't a feeling you get from a pep talk or a participation trophy.

It’s the "proof" a kid collects every time they face something that makes them want to quit and they choose to stay anyway.

It’s that moment they look at a challenge and realize: “I’ve got this. I’ve handled hard things before.”

We aren't trying to make life harder for them. We’re helping them become the kind of people who aren't afraid of a hard life, which inadvertently, makes their adulthood easier to manage.

“Yes I Can” isn’t just a slogan we make them shout.

It’s a reality they prove to themselves, one "hard thing" at a time.

If you want to help your child build the kind of character that lasts a lifetime, The PowerfulKids Training Grounds is where they start proving to themselves what they’re truly capable of.

Give them the tools to handle the hard things. 👇

You can see it in a moment.

That split second where a child decides…

👉 go
or
👉 hold back

Most programs teach the move.

We train the decision.

Because confidence isn’t built by talking about it…

It’s built by doing something when your brain says don’t.

That’s what you’re seeing here.

👉 Where “I can’t” becomes “Yes I Can”
👉 And hesitation turns into action

If your child struggles with confidence, focus, or follow-through…

Yes I Can starts here👇

She shared:
‘Achieving goals daily.’

Most kids wait to be told what to do next.

Real-Life Heroes set the standard themselves.

Not just at The PowerfulKids Training Grounds™.

In the classroom and in real life.

This is what we get to witness every single day and we don’t take that lightly. 🥋🔥
