Concussions are complicated.

I know how important it is to shift the body from fight or flight into rest and repair.
I teach this. I live this.

But I’ve had a setback in my concussion recovery.
The truth is, I relapsed—not because I wasn’t doing the right things, but because I was still going.
💛
I told myself I was going slower, being more careful.
But the nervous system doesn’t register slower as different—it only sees that I’m still going.
And that keeps it in fight or flight.
😧
The nervous system wants rest and repair—which really means stop and heal.
STOP is a full sentence!

Breathwork is showing up everywhere these days, and for good reason—it works. But I still hear a lot of misunderstandings about what it actually is and how it helps. So let’s gently set the record straight.

❌ Myth #1: Breathwork is just deep breathing.
✅ Truth: Breathwork is so much more than taking a few deep breaths. It’s intentional, rhythmic breathing that can support your nervous system, release held tension, and bring you into balance—physically, mentally, and emotionally. It’s a powerful tool for calming anxiety, softening pain, and even improving your sleep.

❌ Myth #2: You have to be spiritual to do it.
✅ Truth: Breathwork doesn’t ask you to believe in anything. It’s rooted in your biology. Your breath is your built-in reset button—always available to help you regulate, no matter your beliefs or background.

❌ Myth #3: It takes a long time to feel the effects.
✅ Truth: One of my favorite things about breathwork is how quickly it works. In just a minute or two, you can feel more grounded, clear, and calm. It’s gentle, effective, and always with you—right under your nose.

Breathwork is really as simple as breathing—something you already do every day. The only difference is bringing in a little more awareness. That small shift can make a big impact on how you feel, think, and move through your day.

4-7-8 Breathing for Deep Sleep & Nervous System Calming

Waking up at 3 a.m. with a racing mind?

Let me share one of my favorite tools to calm the body and quiet the mind:

The 4-7-8 Breathing Technique.

Here’s how it works:
🫁 Inhale gently through your nose for 4 seconds
⏸ Hold your breath for 7 seconds
🌬 Exhale slowly and completely through your mouth for 8 seconds

Repeat for 3–4 rounds while lying in bed, or anytime you need to settle your system.

This simple rhythm helps:
• Slow your heart rate
• Activate your parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) nervous system
• Send a message to your body: “You’re safe. You can let go now.”

✨ It’s like a lullaby for your nervous system.

Healing isn’t linear—it Spirals. Just like Breath.

Some days, I feel like I’m making progress.
Other days, I find myself circling back to things I thought I’d already worked through.

As I recover from this concussion, I’m being reminded—again—that healing asks us to slow down, listen, and trust the process.

It’s not a straight line. It never was.
Healing moves more like the breath—rhythmic, flowing, and always circling back.
Inhale… exhale… expansion… release.
A gentle spiral that brings us deeper each time.

Did you know that chewing can enhance brain function? 🧠✨
Research shows that chewing increases blood flow to the brain, improving memory, focus, and cognitive function.
But here’s the catch—not all chewing is beneficial.

Many people associate chewing with gum, thinking it helps with focus, but it’s the act of chewing—not gum itself—that stimulates the brain.
In fact, chewing gum may actually do more harm than good. 🚫
Instead, chewing whole, nutrient-rich foods provides brain benefits—without the downsides of artificial sweeteners or digestive strain.

How Chewing Supports Brain Health

✅ Increases Blood Flow to the Brain
– More oxygen means better concentration, memory, and learning ability.
