"I'm fine" is often less about being okay and more about staying safe.
It can mean "I don't want to burden you" or "I don't know how to explain this".
For many people, saying "I'm fine" was learned early as a way to cope, protect themselves, or keep the peace.
In therapy, we slow down and unpack what's underneath the "fine". You don't have to minimize your experience to be worthy of care. 🩵
